PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

Greetings Shooters & Guests!

On behalf of the Indiana Trapshooter’s Association Board of Directors & Officers, I would like to welcome you to the 126th Indiana State Trapshooting Championships.

It would certainly be an understatement to say 2020 has not gone as smooth as originally planned due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Undoubtedly, I, like most everyone else, was concerned I was going to be the first ITA President in the past 126 years to my knowledge to have to cancel the Indiana State Shoot. However, I am pleased to say everything is moving forward with the shoot this year and I look forward to seeing many of you at our Indiana Gun Club homegrounds on July 7th through 12th! Obviously, there will be a few changes to the shoot this year as we work to comply with the necessary rules & regulations due to the pandemic. Be sure to check the announcement board located on the building between the clubhouse and cashier area for any pertinent updates during the shoot. If you feel sick, please stay home this year!

These past 8 years on the ITA Board of Directors has been a rewarding experience for me, and they have gone by fast for sure. I look forward to continuing my involvement with the ATA and the ITA as your ATA Delegate for Indiana for many years to come, at least as long as you will have me! It has been an absolute pleasure working with every Director that I have served alongside, both past & present Directors included. Words can’t do justice to properly express how much each volunteer is appreciated. I ask of all shooters to be certain to convey your gratitude to these generous volunteers we have, as without them the Indiana State Shoot would not be possible. I challenge each of you to give back to the sport of trapshooting and do your part to make it even better.

On a personal note, I want to thank my wife Deidre, and my sons Parker & Spencer, for all of the patience and understanding of the time I’ve spent being on the ITA Board of Directors and as your Indiana ATA Delegate. Love you all.

IMPORTANT NOTES FOR 2020 STATE SHOOT 1. You may pre-squad online at presquad.com beginning June 1st. 2. Please note ATA rules regarding declarations for shoot-offs for category

shooters. See Indiana State Shoot Tournament Information Item #20. 3. Septic services will be available for all campers on Thursday & Sunday.

If interested, please sign up at the cashier’s window. 4. Banks will be rotated each day. There will be a drawing made by the

BOD at the clubhouse 1 hour prior to the start of that day’s events. The bank assignments will be posted on the Shooter’s Information Board, on the score board and around the trapline. If you sign up for an event af-ter the bank assignments have been posted, you must take a position on the first available squad. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

5. All operators of golf carts, both personal and rented, must have a valid driver’s license and liability insurance. Shooters who rent golf carts from the ITA are responsible for all damages to their golf cart.

6. Shooter will need a plastic ATA card and updated Average Card to classify, squad, return a squad position, cashier, and/or receive payouts. See “Rules for Squadding” for additional information.

7. For Singles & Handicap events, we will be using eight two-trap banks, shooting 50 per trap, 5 per post. For Doubles events, we will be using six two-trap banks, shooting 50 per trap, 5 pair per post. Management reserves the right to change an event to 10 targets per post.

8. For Friday Night’s MISS & OUT Shoot-off, donations include a gun, CASH, free shoot-off shells & various prizes from several generous contributors.

9. Please check the Shooter’s Information Board located on the east side of the Club House for Daily Messages, Bank Assignments, Unclaimed Trophies, and important messages.

Waiver and Release Agreement for the Indiana State Trapshooting Tournament Program

The following Hold Harmless agreement has been implemented for the Indiana State Trapshooting Tournament as a requirement of our insurance carrier.By attending the Indiana State Trapshooting Tournament or paying an entry fee to participate in any of the events of the Indiana Trapshooting Tournament, under the auspices of the Indiana Trapshooter’s Association, Inc., and held on the home grounds in Fishers, Indiana, you agree to the terms and conditions of this waiver:I acknowledge and understand that trapshooting has inherent risks, hazards and dangers for anyone attending this function. I am voluntarily attending or participating in the Tournament sponsored by the Indiana Trapshoot-er’s Association, Inc., with full knowledge of the inherent dangers involved and hereby assume and accept any and all risks of injury, including paralysis or death. I, for myself, my heirs, successors, beneficiaries, executors and subrogees, hereby knowingly and intentionally waive and release, indemnity and hold harmless the Indiana Trapshooter’s Association, Inc., its directors, officers, agents, employees, and volunteers, from and against any and all claims, actions, causes of action, liabilities, suits, expenses, and dangers including personal injury and death sustained/incurred by myself or which I cause to others, which are related to, arise out of, or are in any way connected with my attendance or participation at this Tournament.

Presquadding for the Indiana State Shoot will be done online thru www.presquad.com. A non-refundable fee of $ 2.00 per post / per event ($10.00 for a full squad) will be charged.

Fees are to be paid online with www.presquad.com by credit card only.

Pre-squadding will start on June 1, 2020 and will conclude on July 5, 2020.

There will be no mail-in pre-squadding accepted; AIM Presquadding will be on presquad.com listed as Indiana AIM Shoot.

INDIANA STATE SHOOT TOURNAMENT INFORMATION 1. ATA Rules and Regulations will govern this program. 2. The ITA Board of Directors (BOD) reserves the right to refuse any entry and/

or to remove any person interfering with the harmony of this shoot. The ITA BOD reserves the right to change, cancel, or postpone any part of this program. All decisions in regard to rules, trophies, and money shall be made by this body and are final.

3. The ITA will not be responsible for any loss or accidents. See “Waiver and Release Agreement”on the previous page, prior to entering any event.

4. Classification, Squadding, and Cashiering will open at 7:30 AM each day, ex-cept on Tuesday (Fun Day) which opens at 8:30 AM. Classification and Squad-ding close at 5 PM each day except Sunday, which closes at 1 PM. Cashiering closes at 5 PM each day except Sunday, which closes at 2:30 PM.

5. All shooters must have their ATA Average Card accurate, updated, and averages computed. If your ATA Average Card is not up-to-date, classification will be at the discretion of the Handicapping Committee. Each shooter will also need their plastic ATA card for classification, squadding and cashiering.

6. Handicapping and Classification will be performed by the ITA BOD, ATA Indiana Delegate and Alternate Delegates, or by appointed personnel. No entry will be accepted until the shooter has been classified and handicapped by the classification committee.

7. Target Requirements are as follows:a. Targets must be shot in the current Target Year.b. 500 targets are required for 16-yard singles, otherwise will be

classified Penalty Class A.c. 500 targets are required for Handicap, otherwise will shoot your ATA

assigned yardage plus two (2) yards penalty.d. 300 targets are required for Doubles, otherwise will be classified

Penalty Class A.e. Targets shot at the State Shoot on Tuesday will count towards the

target requirement. However, the shooter will need to be reclassified on Wednesday if they meet the target requirements.

10. Special Rules Governing Classification:a. Reduced Target Price – ITA will deduct ½ the target price for Juniors

and Sub-Juniors if they choose to forfeit the right to play options. This declaration must be made at the time of initial classification and is ir-revocable for the remainder of the shoot. Juniors and Sub-Juniors that shoot ½ price targets are still eligible for trophies and added money.

b. Penalty Waivers – Target requirements will be waived for Senior Vet-erans and Lady II shooters over the age of 70, making them eligible for trophies and added money.

c. Targets Only – Penalty yardage may be waived by any shooter so electing to do so. However, such waiver shall prohibit them from winning any trophies, added money, options, and prohibits the shooter from participating in any special events or options, including HOA & HAA. Once declared, this declaration shall be in effect for the rest of the tournament, unless their target requirement has been met prior to Wednesday.d. Starting with Wednesday’s Events, if a shooter shoots the high score in their Singles and/or Doubles Class, regardless of Category, the shooter’s classification will automatically be moved up by one class

for the next event and rest of the shoot.e. If a participant wins yardage in any handicap event, please report to

classification for proper updates. Any shooter who does not report shall be ineligible for trophies, options, or added money for subse-quent events.

11. Rules for Squadding – The ITA has eliminated the paper entry cards and will be utilizing an electronic squad ticket. You will only be able to squad one position per event per ATA number. Those desiring to reserve a position for another person must have that shooter’s ATA plastic card to reserve a position. If you do not wish to enter an event that you have previously squadded for, you must use your ATA card to release that position before being eligible to reserve a new position. If you have enough shooters for a full squad, it is highly recommended to pre-squad for those events to ensure that all five shooters shoot on the same squad.

12. Please do not squad for a late squad in one event and an early squad in the next event on the same day.

13. Squadding and Cashiering for Tuesday’s Events will take place Tuesday morning. Squadding and Cashiering for all other events will start after 1:00 pm on Tuesday.

14. No entry fee will be refunded unless shoot is cancelled or per ATA rules. 15. No entry will be changed after the participant has left the cashiering window. Targets not cashiered prior to shooting an event will count as “targets only”

and the shooter will be ineligible for all trophies, options and added money for the event. The targets will be registered and the shooter will be required to pay all target fees and ATA/ITA fees for the event. Shooter will NOT be allowed to shoot remaining events until restitution is made for those targets. Multiple occurrences will result in disqualification.

16. All events will start on time as stated in the program. No shooter will be called to the line for any reason. Shooters should be prepared to shoot early in the morning if squads are empty. No shooter will be allowed to make up more than two Sin-gles or Handiap sub-events or one Doubles sub-event on the practice trap.

17. The ITA will employ the Bank System for this tournament. For Singles & Hand-icap events, we will be using eight, two-trap banks, shooting 50 per trap, 5 per post. For Doubles events, we will be using six, two-trap banks, shooting 50 per trap, 5 pair per post. ITA reserves the right to change any event in the program

Banks will be randomly drawn each day and posted on the Shooter’sInformation Board. If you sign up for an event after the bank assignments have been posted, you must take a position onthe first available squad. There will be no exceptions to this rule.

18. No score will be changed except where ATA rules allow. 19. Scores are final 30 minutes after the last score is posted.

Greg Drinski Memorial Trophy. b. To qualify for an Indiana Resident ATA or ITA trophy, you must have

been a resident of the State of Indiana for six (6) months immediately preceding the day before the start of the State Shoot and be a member in good standing of the ATA and ITA.

c. Any shooter who is tied for event Champion may shoot-off/carry-over for the Championship trophy. If a shooter fails in the championship trophy shoot-off/carry-over and has declared a special category at the time of classification, the shooter can fall back to the declared special category.

d. Any shooter who has declared a special category at the time of classi-fication and whose score qualifies for any trophy in his/her declared category, will compete for the category trophy and not for place, class or yardage group.

e. Any special category shooter whose score does not qualify for a trophy in his/her category may compete for place, class or yardage group trophies.

f. Once any declarations have been made either by a shooter or shoot management, the declaration is final and cannot be changed. There shall be no exception to this rule.

g. Times will be posted in the Clubhouse for winners to pick up their trophies. No trophies will be mailed.

h. Races in the Zone Team, Husband/Wife, Parent/Child, Singles Club Youth Team Races and/or other races will be decided on the total 200

targets of Event 11 with ties decided by long run from scratch by sub-event. Forms will be available in the clubhouse. Forms must be

filled out and turned in to the Classification table by 9 AM on Saturday. Races for Doubles Club Team will be decided on the total 100 targets of Event 12 with ties decided by long run from

scratch by sub-event. Forms must be filled out and turned in to the Classification table by 9 AM on Sunday. ALL TEAM RACES ARE

FOR INDIANA RESIDENTS ONLY. 21. Rules governing shoot-offs:

a. All shoot-offs will be under the direct supervision of the ITA BOD.b. Any shooter not reporting for shoot-offs shall forfeit all trophy rights.c. Shoot-offs for 16 yard and Handicap events will be shot in 25 target rounds.d. Shoot-offs for Doubles events will be shot in 10 pair rounds.e. Shoot-offs for High Over All and High All Around events will be shot off

per ATA rules.f. All ties will be decided as per the comments on the bottom of the event’s

page in the program. 22. Practice will be available each day. Shells will be available at the Shell House.

No shell exchanges will be allowed. 23. All merchandise sold on the grounds must be previously arranged with the ITA.

Shells may not be sold by any vendor. Shells will be sold only at the Shell House.

20. Rules governing Classification/Trophies:a. A shooter can only win one trophy per event with the exception of the

following: Team Events, Husband/Wife, Parent/ Child, and the

26. Golf carts are available for rent; however, they must be reserved in advance. Please contact Dave Wade at [email protected] or (812) 455-4397 to reserve a golf cart. There are no automatic renewals if you reserved one the previous year. Personal golf carts will be permitted as long as the owner and/or operator can provide proof of liability insurance. All operators of golf carts, both person-al and rented, must have a valid driver’s license. Shooters who rent golf carts from the ITA are responsible for all damages to their cart. Owners and renters are responsible for any accidents or injuries involving their golf cart.

27. Annual Meeting – July 10, 2020 following completion of Friday’s events. All member clubs of the ITA should be present to assist in the business that will come before the organization at this time. No club may be recognized unless represented by an officer or owner, unless they present an official letter to represent said club.

28. Election of ATA Delegate and Alternate Delegates: If more than one candidate for ATA Delegate and/or more than 2 ATA Alternate Delegates are nominated at the annual meeting, then an election shall be held from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday in the clubhouse. Voters will need their current ATA Average card to participate.

29. Target Requirements for Indiana All-State Teams:

24. Payout checks will not be available until 12:00 P.M. the day after the event is completed.

25. No hull pick up on the line.

30. Representatives for Indiana at the Grand American Champion of Champions Event will consist of the following winners in Event 11 Singles Championship: Champion, Lady I Champion, Lady II Champion, Sub-Junior Champion, Junior Champion, Junior Gold Champion, Sub-Veteran Champion, Veteran Champion, and Sr Veteran Champion. If one or more of these champions are not present at the Grand American, then an alternate champion will be selected starting with the next highest score in the respective races.

31. Septic services will be available for all campers on Thursday and Sunday. If interested, please sign up at the cashier’s window.

32. Bicycles and skateboards are not permitted anywhere near the shooting line until the last shot is fired following shoot-offs.

33. No payments/payouts will be processed at the Cashier’s Window for camping, camper septic service, previous day payouts, etc. until AFTER 11am.

2020 INDIANA AIM STATE CHAMPIONSHIPAIM is the official Youth program of the ATA. The purpose of AIM is to provide a safe and positive experience with firearms and registered trapshooting for youth, elementary school through college age. AIM encourages good sportsmanship and responsibility through competition while establishing the foundation to make trapshooting a lifelong avocation.The ITA Board of Directors have decided to hold the AIM championship on Tues-day, July 7, 2020. The AIM program will be 100 16-yard targets followed by 50 pair of doubles. One half of the $20 entry fee for this option is a tax-deductible donation to the Trapshooting Hall of Fame. This donation provides support to our new museum and to the many projects undertaken by the Hall of Fame. Your entry slip shows this contribution and is your receipt. One half of the entry fee for this option will be forwarded to the Trapshooting Hall of Fame, and the other half will be paid out in three Lewis Classes, 60/40 high gun each class. The high participating shooter will receive a specially crafted Shamrock Leathers oak and leather wall clock suitably engraved. All participants will qualify for this beautiful Shamrock Leathers Hall of Fame Award. Ties will be resolved by shoot management. The Hall of Fame is recognized as a 501(c)3 charitable organization by the IRS.
