Shift to (Organizational) Resilience:

Page 10: 19th Belgium forum update

BCI BE FORUM 28 JANUARY 2016 10

Collaboration is Key; Resilience is the outcome

“Currently, we umbrella the risk activity as “Enterprise Risk Management” –

how about we rebadge ERM to cover “enterprise resilience management” i.e. a

raft of collaborative activities that have a defined aim rather than a process of

collating and reporting risks.”

Andy Mason, MBCI

“There is space, and indeed a real need for all us to play a role in enhancing

resilience but it requires collaboration and coordination.”

James Crask, MBCI

“A key approach is to encourage openness between an organization and its

critical suppliers delivering a better understanding of each other’s priorities and

risks and integrated continuity planning.”

Duncan Ford, MBCI

Collaboration is Key; Resilience is the outcome

“Effective Supply Chain Continuity Management (SCCM) generates its own

challenges for an organization, it may impact procurement strategies as

continuity requirements may be contrary to strategies of minimising costs. The

process of analysis should bring a focus onto pressure points and allow the

associated risk to the organization to be recognised and managed.”

Jim Stephens, MBCI

“Transformation of the global BC Strategy: embracing the technological change

and adapt to push towards ensuring an “always on” level of global business

processes and services.”

Steve Woolley, MBCI

Horizon scanning (Horizon Scan survey reports):

“What is the evidence to prove that we have the ability to predict events with

the required accuracy to enable this approach to work?”

Ian Charters, FBCI

“By defining the boundaries of the possible and encouraging us to think outside

the box, Horizon scanning can help to set realistic boundaries of our BCM

capability and contribute some interesting and challenging scenarios to

exercise the capabilities of BC or Incident Management teams.”

Outcome of practical exercise
