17th Sunday in Ordinary Time

12 HOUR ADORATION Friday, August 3rd there will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and Adoration beginning after the 8:30am Mass and lasting until 9pm on Friday. Please consider giving an hour of your time. You may sign-up on the board outside the Chapel or simply show up during the day. At 11am there is a Holy Hour for Church Voca-tions led by Serra Club of S.E. Kansas City. All are welcome to share in this praying ministry. Reminder to Adorers: If no one is present in the chapel please close the tabernacle window before you leave. Thank you.
ST. REGIS STEWARDSHIP CORNER The story of the multiplication of the loaves and the fish-es is a familiar one, and has many lessons, not least of which is how our willingness to share who we are and what we have - exercising good stewardship - releases God’s power and bountifulness on the world and its peo-ple. Do we realize that there is enough for all if we are willing to share? Are we aware that God is at work when we share our time, our money and our other resources in his name?
(This scripture reflection is from the International Catho-lic Stewardship Council e-bulletin)
ON VACATION? When you are out of town, Mass times can be found on the following website: http://www.masstimes.org. Just enter the town or city where you are going. It gives you the names of the nearby churches, their Mass times and website information if available.
THINKING OF BECOMING CATHOLIC? Do you know of anyone who might be interested in ex-ploring the possibility of becoming Catholic? Maybe you have a friend, family member, co-worker who is not bap-tized or does not belong to a faith community. This is an excellent opportunity to invite them to explore the truth, beauty and splendor of the Catholic faith. Inquiry classes begin in September; however, you can contact Deacon Sam now (816) 761-1608 to discuss your particular cir-cumstances before classes begin.
CONGRATULATIONS Congratulations to Blanca and Rodrigo Zarate who received their First Communion last week-end. May their faith and love of Jesus continue to grow.
PRAYER FOR TRAVELERS O Almighty and merciful God, who hast commissioned thy angels to guide and protect us, command them to be our assiduous companions from our setting out until our return; to clothe us with their invisible protection; to keep from us all danger of collision, of fire, of explosion, of fall and bruises, and finally, having preserved us from all evil, and especially from sin, to guide us to our heavenly home. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
ANNUAL MISSION COOPERATION On the weekend of August 5th and 6th, Fr. Zachary from the Society of Our Lady of the Most Holy Trinity (SOLT) will give a mission appeal at our parish. Serving in 13 countries including the United States, SOLT Missionaries bring hope and the love of Jesus and Mary to people liv-ing in impoverished conditions. They serve migrant farm workers, refugees, Native Americans, orphans, the elder-ly, families and those undergoing drug rehabilitation.
SOLT missionaries serve in parishes and schools giving the sacraments and teaching catechism in remote areas. They also care for the needs of the poor through commu-nity and family development projects such as clean water, food and medical care. Your generosity makes it possible for these missionaries to bring Christ to the poor.

Mike Aquilina, author of over forty books and an expert on early Church history, shares how the faithful witness of Christian families amidst the trials and persecutions of the Church in the first centuries of its existence led to the rapid expansion of Christianity and the conversion of the Roman Empire. Mike relates how fidelity to prayer, faithful attendance of Sunday Mass, and love of neighbor offered a powerful witness to a culture that, in many re-spects, is similar to our own.
GUIDE BOOK & DIRECTORY ADVERTISING OPPORTUNITY We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book and Directory for the church. This book will contain eve-rything pertinent to our church: the various ministries, organizations, committees, activities, functions and events plus a complete directory of all members. This book is being provided and direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the parish office, 761-1608.
UPDATE MEMBERSHIP INFORMATION Does our Church database have YOUR family member-ship record correct? Here is your chance to update YOUR record for our annual Guide Book and Directory if you haven’t already done so. It is time for us to update our database with any changes, additions or deletions that any have occurred in YOUR family over the past year. Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved? Are you preparing to move soon? Are all of your children still at home and are they included in your membership record? Do you want your record pub-lished? If you have not already informed the Parish Of-fice about changes to your record, please call the Parish Office, 761-1608.
