Operating Systems Supported

The following table details the supported Operating Systems.

Operating System Notes HP-UX 11i v1 - Windows XP Pro (SP1, SP2) Refer to 9500 MXC User Manual for XP support information Windows 2000 Pro (SP3) - Windows NT 4.0 - Windows 98 - Windows Vista -

Computer Hardware Supported The following table details the minimum hardware specifications required to operate CT. Attributes Minimum Specifications Processor P3, 500 MHz RAM 256 MB HD space (install and operate) 80 MB Monitor adaptor SVGA Monitor display resolution 800 x 600 Monitor colours 256 Mouse Yes Note: ATI video cards installed with a ‘Catalyst driver’ set earlier than 4.9 will cause the CT performance page to stop working if the screen-saver activates. The workaround is to install the latest video drivers from the video card manufacturer.

Regional Settings Supported CT supports the following locales and there are no known limitations: Albanian, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Catalan, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, English, Estonian, Finnish, French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hungarian, Icelandic, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Serbo-Croatian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Ukrainian. The following table details known regional settings limitations. Locales Known Limitations Arabic The calendar does not display the day of the week correctly Chinese The date format is not consistent in event browser, the calendar does not

display the day of the week correctly, and the alarms page is larger than 800 x 600 resolution

Hindi The alarms page is larger than 800 x 600 resolution Swedish Commas are displayed instead of decimal points when entering the TR/RX

spacing and TX/RX frequency. CT will accept commas when the user enters TX/RX frequency, however it will not accept commas for the TX/RX spacing. The workaround is to use decimal points.

Thai Alarms page is larger than 800 x 600 resolution Turkish Some event log entries in the event browser and link history pages may not

be displayed

Network Time Protocol (SNTP) Servers Supported 9500 MXC software has been successfully tested with the following NTP time servers. • NetTime

Closed Field Issues

The following table lists field issues that have been fixed since version 4.0 Trouble Ticket # Issue Description

9465 ODU 300 EP: Latch PA current alarm when ODU is muted, alarm is now still monitored.

5376 DAC E3/DS3 MUX: Intermittent sync losses can be experienced when used with DAC 155oM. This irregularity has been resolved.

4795 IDU 300ES / DAC-ES: Performance Data not being logged correctly for these modules, problem now resolved.

5449 DHCP function will now assign the Terminals IP address as desired.

3361 DAC ES & IDU 300 ES: A lower throughput rate was observed if an AA test pattern was fed through these radios. Although not a fault, the full throughput is now observed if this test pattern is used.

3350 IDU 300 ES: Unable to stop flow control while switch ports are in auto-negotiation, problem now resolved.

1037 RSSI Fluctuations observed when ATPC is enabled at low power levels, this problem has been resolved.

826 INUe: Heavy Ethernet Port NMS traffic could cause soft resets, this problem has been resolved.

618 A short burst of AIS generated when a node in a Ring Network wraps affected some 3rd party equipment, this undesirable feature no longer exists.

3344 RAC 40: Demodulator not locking after fading activity in ring. Ring networks were experiencing constant Demodulator alarms after fading activities. This is now fixed.

5156 Rings: Wrap performance could exceed 150ms for protected links. Ring wrapping performance has been improved for segments that include protected links.

1551 NPC: NPC alarms have a warning severity level. The severity of the -48V alarm has been changed from warning to major.

Closed Significant Issues

The following table lists significant issues that were discovered during development/testing and have been fixed by this release.

Software Type Issue Description

Embedded IDU 300 ES: Throughput can drop when connected to DAC GE. The IDU ES had a problem at 40E1 capacity that has now been resolved.

Embedded DAC GE: 64b frame throughput is low (~8%), with preamble not removed. When both ends of a data link include this version of software (or later), then they will remove preamble from Ethernet packets, improving throughput particularly with small frames

Embedded No Circuits shown for IDU ES and in the As-built report Configured circuits are now shown in the As-built report

Embedded ODU 300 HP: Add support for v2 Calibration files The ODU 300 HP now supports v2 calibration files, as well as the original v1 calibration files.

Embedded RAC 3X, 106E1 ports 101-106. Use of radio ports 101-106 has been disabled in an INU – they are of no practical use as the TDM backplane is limited to 100 circuits

Embedded RAC 40: Upgrade from v3.3 to 4.0.61 selects wrong profile A very limited number of customers that experienced a RAC40 DNL alarm condition were supplied an interim software build 4.0.61. When upgrading from v 3.3 or earlier to 4.0.61, compatibility problems relating to RAC40 profiles occurred. This is now fixed.

Embedded ODU 300 EP & ODU 300 HP: Latch PA current alarm when ODU is muted. The PA current alarm could not be evaluated when the ODU is muted. Now the alarm is latched to the state it was in prior to muting. This latched value is stored in non-volatile memory in the ODU.

CT And Embedded Compatibility

Embedded Software Version Matching CT Software Version 3.3.49 and later 3.3.717 and later Important Notes 1. Traffic may be affected when upgrading software between two specific versions of software.

Contact an Alcatel-Lucent Technical Help Desk for details, contact details are on page ii of these release notes.

2. When upgrading software ensure the remote end of a link is upgraded before the local end. This is particularly important where the RAC 40 is involved.

3. A license upgrade requires a power cycle if the backplane type changes. 4. A power cycle or a RAC reinsertion is required if a capacity change exceeds the license

capacity size. 5. Care should be taken not to run OSPF and Static routing within the same internal OSPF routing

domain. 6. If Craft terminal loses communication with an IDU 300 SP radio when changing the IP address,

restart the Craft Terminal to restore communication. 7. Disable any PC firewalls before performing a software download.

Alcatel-Lucent encourages its customers to report problems so we can resolve them as quickly as possible. If you encounter a technical issue please contact us
