A VISION OF SAAB INTERIORS IN 2020

    was doneat HDK, in 2009.

    took 3 MONTHS.

    was sponsored by SAAB Cars

mentored by Ivar FRISCHER, Chief Designer, SAAB Cars.

    THE BRIEF is about;

Investigating interactions in the car interior in 2020 and

    designing interior solutions.

It is aTRANSPORTATION project. It was a group project done

together with Mercedes PIGRETTIand James THOMPSON.

The project examines how we will interact with our vehicles in the near future. A delicate balance of cutting-edge technology

has been blended with the rich aviation pedigree of SAAB. The focus is on the driver experience!

We have examined several aspects of the driver experience, using scenarios to illustrate our solutions. We have examined physical

and graphical designs, as well as giving related marketing suggestions.

James is a young designer who loves

    skiing.

He loves the drive up to the mountain as

much as he does the kamikaze action on the

    slopes.

Jamess SAAB knows that he drives a lot in

    rapidly-changing weather conditions, and is

on the lookout for weather news and road

    conditions.

Jamess SAAB rewards his safe driving in foul

weather with discounts on ski lift t ickets and

    special-edition snowtires, inspired by the

    rich rally-driving heritage of SAAB.

Martin uses his SAAB rather a lot, as he

makes a daily commute between Gteborg

and the outlaying areas in his job as a super-

visor for a large construction company.

He drives more than he would really like to,

and he tends to think of all this extra driving

    as wastefull.

Martins SAAB is connected to the network,

and through the wireless network of users,

SAAB is keeping track of the kilometers

    Martin is driving.

SAAB will purchase and protect a certain

amount of square kilometers of endangered

    rain forest or similar area.

The crossover shoe consists of two parts. The INNER PART is designed for indoors use.

The OUTER PART is worn for outdoor use. This helps the user adjust to the environment easily.

The brand values derived from Volvo are further emphasized through the feeling of safety indoors and strength outdoors.

    WHY?

    HOW?

    This is typical Go-

thenburg, where it isessential to be adjustable

to EVERY condition. Andmoreover, we spend

    most of our time in-

    doors, driving to our of-

    ces and sitting there

    all day with big boots,

    which is a bit uneasy.

    How would a

    VOLVO SHOE wouldlook like? How

    would a brand

    who creates per-

    fection in mobil-

    ity would inter-

    pret the most

    basic means of

    transportation?

Ideation process for this project started with brainstorming, imageboards and then went into sketching and then more brainstorming.

The target audience for the new

Ford Fiesta is a young, strong and

    independent woman, Antonella, at an

    early stage of her career.

    Her views on design are;

    feminine but not girly,

    sexy andsophisticated,

This helps Antonella have the right purse
