From Sister Revelina Santiago, Pastoral Associate Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, It is with great joy to see our parishioners gradually coming back to our Church to join us in our daily and Sunday Liturgies and other parish activities. We thank the Lord for the safe environment we feel around us now because He provided us with the vaccines that we genuinely needed.

In line with this, I would like to share one of my posts in my Facebook account where I tried to encourage our brothers and sisters to “Be very discerning…” It went like this:

“There are two things the devil is deadly afraid of: fervent Communions and frequent visits to the Blessed Sacrament.” – St. John Bosco

My brothers and sisters, Have you been vaccinated, or you don't want to get vaccinated? But you go out and do your groceries, do you? You also go to work because you need to earn a living. Then, you also do not want to go to Church because you are afraid, you might get infected by the virus.

Since you got used to online Masses, you think that God understands your situation, hence you try to believe that it is okay not to receive the Holy Eucharist even for more than a year now. You still believe that it is not safe to be with many people at Church even if it has been announced by the government that people can now gather in a much freer way.

The Eucharist is the real presence of Jesus, and it is the closest we can be with Him. And it is the Eucharist that the evil one would do its best to hinder us from receiving - by implanting in our minds - fears, doubts, false messages, etc.

Discern very well, brothers and sisters. We might be giving the devil the chance to take us further away from the Lord.

Perhaps, "Many do not believe that the Eucharist is the Body of Christ. But there is someone who has no doubt about it—Satan…. The devil is thrilled by our doubts, our disbelief, our irreverence, and our negligence toward the Eucharist. He loves to deprive us of the riches of the Sacrament." I am aware that many of you are so glad to be back to Church, to celebrate the Eucharist and receive Holy Communion once again. We shall continue to be careful and to stay safe as we also include in our prayers our parishioners and many other people who are still overshadowed by fear even if they are already fully vaccinated. May they soon feel safe and be able to join us in our Eucharistic celebrations.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas en Cristo, "Es con gran alegría ver a nuestros feligreses regresar

gradualmente a nuestra Iglesia para unirse a nosotros en nuestras liturgias diarias y dominicales y otras

actividades parroquiales. Agradecemos al Señor por el ambiente seguro que sentimos a nuestro alrededor

ahora porque Él nos proporcionó las vacunas que realmente necesitábamos.

En línea con esto, me gustaría compartir una de mis publicaciones en mi cuenta de Facebook

donde traté de animar a nuestros hermanos y hermanas a “Ser muy exigentes…” Fue así:

"Hay dos cosas que el diablo teme mortalmente: Comuniones fervientes y visitas frecuentes al

Santísimo Sacramento". - San Juan Bosco Mis hermanos y hermanas, ¿han sido vacunados

o no quieren vacunarse? Pero sales y haces la compra, ¿verdad? También va a trabajar porque necesita ganarse

la vida. Entonces, tampoco quiere ir a la Iglesia porque tiene miedo, podría infectarse con el virus.

Desde que te acostumbraste a las Misas en línea, crees que Dios comprende tu situación, por lo tanto, intentas

creer que está bien no recibir la Sagrada Eucaristía incluso durante más de un año. Todavía cree que no es seguro estar con muchas personas en la Iglesia, incluso

si el gobierno ha anunciado que las personas ahora pueden reunirse de una manera mucho más libre.

La Eucaristía es la presencia real de Jesús, y es lo más cerca que podemos estar de Él. Y es la Eucaristía que el

maligno haría todo lo posible para impedirnos recibir - implantando en nuestra mente - miedos, dudas,

mensajes falsos, etc. Discernid muy bien, hermanos y hermanas. Podríamos estar dando al diablo la oportunidad de alejarnos más

del Señor. Quizás, "Muchos no creen que la Eucaristía es el Cuerpo de Cristo. Pero hay alguien que no tiene ninguna duda al

respecto: Satanás ... El diablo está emocionado por nuestras dudas, nuestra incredulidad, nuestra

irreverencia y nuestra negligencia hacia la Eucaristía". . Le encanta privarnos de las riquezas del Sacramento ".

Soy consciente de que muchos de ustedes estaban muy contentos de volver a la Iglesia, celebrar la Eucaristía y

feligreses y muchas otras personas que todavía están eclipsadas por el miedo, incluso si ya están

Calling all Prayer Warriors!

The St. Stephen Protomartyr Parish Respect Life Ministry is again inviting all parishioners who believe in the sacredness of life and who stand to defend life especially the life of the unborn to join us in our next Prayer Vigil for Life. It will be on Saturday, August 14th from 9-10 am at the American Women’s Health Center at 110 S. River Road in Des Plaines. We decided to continue our Vigil at this abortion facility together with all other people who pray there on Saturdays. The purpose of this Prayer Vigil is to pray for the unborn, the expectant mothers who are persuaded to abort the babies in the womb, and the doctors and nurses in attendance.
