Petrea volubilis With the loveliness of a wisteria, often called Queen's Wreath Vine - blossoms with billowing clouds of cascading purple flowers. Petrea volubilis is a species of plant in the family Verbenaceae, native to tropical America. The species is an evergreen flowering vine. It is grown as an ornamental plants, valued especially for its display of violet flowers. The flowers emerge from bracts. Flowering across the Range in November.
The Wonga Pigeon, or Wonga Wonga, is a large, plump,
ground dwelling pigeon with a small head, short, broad wings and
a long tail. It is mainly grey above, with a pale face, a distinctive
white V on the breast and white lower parts which are boldly
marked with black brown crescents and wedges. The white
necklace is very distinctive.
The eyes are dark red brown with a pink eye ring and black lores
(area between the bill and the eye) and the bill, feet and legs are
deep pink to red.
Often sighted along the Range under bushes. Above are the Australian king parrot dropping seeds as they eat. The wonga is rewarded.
Very tall and straight
black butts observed in
the Mapleton Forest.
Eucalyptus pilularis
Thank you Yvette.
