I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving, and that you were able to meet with your child’s teacher. Thanks to the Richmond staff for making conferences possible – it takes a lot of time and energy to schedule all those meetings and progress reviews. The holiday season is upon us which means we are already a good three months into the school year! Many thanks to everyone who has stepped up and helped to make Richmond a wonderful place for our students – whether through volunteering at events or around campus, helping in the classroom or contributing financially, your support is greatly appreciated. We have a jam packed month ahead and I would like to highlight a few things: • December 4 th is our next Pop-Up event. This time the PTA partnered with ESLL for a baseball themed event. Each student will be coming home with their very own soft baseball!

November always seems to go by so quickly with all the planning of holiday activities and early dismissal days for Parent Conferences. I hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving, and that you were able to meet with your child’s teacher. • December 5th is the Winter Sing - They have been hard at work perfecting their song and dance! Be sure to check on your child’s performance time. Remember our very own ED Foundation helps pay for our music program!
• December 8th - Our 1st Annual Ugly Sweater Holiday party at Rock n Brews. Come out between 4pm-9pm to show off your best Ugly Sweater and enjoy in some RSS cheer. I heard there will be many RSS teachers donning their ugliest of ugly sweaters! 15% of your bill comes back to the PTA to help fund those amazing Pop-Up events! Look for the flyer coming home this week.
• Every Thursday - The Richmond Street Runners will be making laps on the field Thursday mornings. Come by early to get your laps in to earn your toe tokens! Lap times are: 8:00, 8:40 or 9:00am.
• The PTA will be launching our very own PTA Members Survey. This is our opportunity to hear from our members regarding our programs, fundraising and events. Look for an email with the survey very soon.
• Like us on Facebook to keep up to date on all things RSS PTA!!
There will be no PTA Association meeting in December. Please join us on January 12th at 7:15pm for our next meeting. The PTA board wishes all Richmond families a warm holiday season and a prosperous new year!!

Mark your calendars! The RSS Book Fair will take place February 26th through March 4th, 2015. Our theme this year is Under the Sea. This is a great opportunity for you and your kids to shop for great books while earning money, supplies and books for our school. Planning is underway now and we are always looking for volunteers to help out before, during and after the event. Currently, we need a person to head our Book Fair raffle. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Caroline Dawes at [email protected] Expect more information to come your way in January. We are looking forward to a wonderful event!

One of this month’s Pop-Up Events will be taking place this Thursday, December 4th during Lunch Recess. The fabulous FUNraising team has partnered with El Segundo Little League for a baseball themed event. The students will be working on their eye-hand coordination, tossing and accuracy, all while having FUN! To top that off, each student will go home with a 2” squishy baseball. YAY!!!

One of the things that makes our school so special and unique is the amazing volunteers that dedicate their time and talent to making a difference for children! Our PTA has held nominations and elections for the new Executive Board for PTA for the 2014-15 school year. THANK YOU to those special people who have agreed to serve! But we still need more help!
