Classes 2018 Class formation is a complex operation and an enormous amount of care and consideration goes into this process each year with lengthy professional consultation and discussion over an extended period of time. Our staff are highly professional, work with your children and observe them on a daily basis within the school context. Careful school analysis occurs using the vast amount of academic, behavioural, emotional and social data already available. The school remains fully responsible for the selection of students within each class as well as for assigning classroom teachers to each group of students. We are unable to accommodate individual requests or preferences as outlined in our Class Formation Policy. Where additional information has been provided about your child, it is anticipated this information would be consistent with, and reflective of, conversations and discussions held with school staff throughout the year. Meet our Staff… Name: Ben Garrard Role: Reading Recovery Teacher & Student Wellbeing

Support Teacher Background: I was born and raised in Newcastle, and it wasn’t until I was 15 years old that my family decided to relocate to the Central Coast. I am extremely fortunate that my parents chose Terrigal, and I have lived in Terrigal ever since. My wife and I consider ourselves very lucky to live in such a beautiful place with our two wonderful kids. My hobbies include surfing, golf, oztag, and proudly supporting the Newcastle Knights, despite their run of bad form. Before teaching I made pizzas at the old Pizza Hut in Long Jetty, worked in retail at Slimes Surf & Skate, and during university worked as a landscape gardener. Teaching and Leadership: I graduated from university at Ourimbah Campus in 2005, upon completion of internship at Wamberal Public School. Apart from a short stint in London, I have taught at WPS my entire career. During my time at WPS I have been a casual relief teacher, classroom teacher on grades K-6, an RFF teacher, Reading Recovery and Wellbeing Support Teacher and relieved as Assistant Principal on numerous occasions. I am proud of my development as an educator and my contribution to WPS over the years. Throughout my career I have formed many close relationships with colleagues, students and people in the school community. I enjoy coming to work each day and making somebody laugh, seeing people smiling and watching students achieve their goals. We have a fabulous staff at WPS, and I look forward to working with such an awesome group for many years to come.
