Sector Skill Councils : Aligning Training with Industry
Role of SSCs as per National Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Policy 2015
1. Identify skill development needs & prepare a catalogue of skills types, range & depth.
2. Develop a sector skill development plan and maintain a skill inventory.
3. Determine skills/competency standards & qualifications and get them notified as per NSQF.
4. Standardize affiliation, accreditation, examination & certification process in accordance with NSQF as determined by
NSQC. Conduct skill based assessment & certification for QP /NOS aligned training programmes.
5. Participate in setting up of affiliation, accreditation, examination & certification norms for respective sectors.
6. Plan and facilitate execution of Training of Trainers along with NSDC & States.
7. Promote academies of excellence.
8. Lay special emphasis on the skilling needs of ST/SC, differently abled & minority populations
9. Ensure persons skilled in accordance with the norms are assured of employment at decent wages.
SSCs consist of representation from Industry, Government and Academia to ensure
participation of all ecosystem stakeholders.
