Travelling to Europe?
The Department of Health has issued new guidelines on Health advice for travellers.
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). EHIC has replaced the old E111. From 1 January 2006,E111’s are no longer valid.
UK residents are entitled to free, or reduced cost, state provided healthcare when visiting a European Union
(EU) country but to be covered you will need to take your EHIC with you.
They have issued a small leaflet, which reads as follows:
Travelling to Europe? Don’t forget your European Health Insurance Card.
The leaflet is available from your Post Office. You can apply by phone, post or online.
