    CLASSIFICATION IN COMPLIANCE WITHEN 12004

    Adesilex P10 is an improved (2) slip resistant (T)cementitious adhesive (C) with extended open time (E)of class C2TE.

    Adesilex P10is CE marked, as declared inITTcertificaten 25080061/Gi (TUM) issued by theTechnische Universitt Mnchen laboratory (Germany)and inITTcertificatesn 2008-B-2749/13 and2008-B-2749/16 issued by the institute MPA Dresden(Germany).

    WHERE TO USEInterior and exterior floor and wall bonding of: installation of normal or heavy weight mesh-backed

    or paper-faced glass, ceramic and marble mosaic.

    Some application examples

    Adesilex P10: Bonding of ceramic, glass and marble mosaic on

    cementitious renders, from the top towards thebottom.

    Bonding mosaic on not planar substrates, withouttiles slipping.

    Bonding mosaic on gypsum board panels.

    Adesilex P10 mixed with Isolastic diluted 1:1 withwater: Bonding mosaic in swimming pools on renders or

    on substrates waterproofed with Mapelastic.

    Internal bonding of mosaic on existing ceramic tiles.

    for at least 28 days, unless special MAPEIbinders for screeds such as Mapecem orTopcem, Topcem Pronto or MapecemPronto have been used.Dampen the surfaces with water to cooldown if they should be too warm or exposedto direct sunlight.Gypsum substrates and anhydrite screedsmust be perfectly dry, sufficiently hard andfree of dust. They must be treated with

    Primer G or Eco Prim T, while areassubject to high humidity must be treatedwith Primer S.In general, refer to the relative MAPEItechnical documentation regarding substratepreparation before repairing cracks insubstrates, consolidating rapid-dryingscreeds and levelling off installation surfaces.

    Preparing the mixWhile stirring, pourAdesilex P10 into acontainer with approximately 34% by weightof clean water (8.5 l of water per 25 kg ofpowder).Mix, possibly with a low speed mixer, toobtain a homogeneous, creamy and lumpfree mix.Let the mix stand for 5-10 minutes and brieflyre-mix before use.Mixed in this way,Adesilex P10 has a pot lifeof approximately 8 hours.

    Applying the mixTo ensure good adhesion, it is recommendedto spread a first thin layer ofAdesilex P10 onthe substrate using the straight edge of thetrowel. This allows for making the best useof the open time and adjustability time of theadhesive.Then apply the mixture with a suitablenotched trowel.

    The basic principle to be followed whenchoosing a suitable trowel is to wet, with theadhesive, 100% of the back of the tiles. Fortiles with high, profiled ribsAdesilex P10must be applied also on the back of the tiles.

    Installing the tilesThere is no need to wet the tiles beforeinstalling them. Only with very dusty backsis it recommended to dip the tiles in cleanwater.The mosaic and tiles should be installedstarting from the top towards the bottomunder a firm pressure to ensure a goodcoverage of the adhesive.In normal temperature and humidityconditions, the open time ofAdesilex P10 isapproximately 20-30 minutes. Unfavourableweather conditions (strong sun, drying wind,high temperatures, etc.) or a highly absorbentsubstrate can reduce the open time,sometimes quite drastically, to just a fewminutes. Keep checking that a skin does notform on the surface of the spread adhesiveand that it is still fresh.Wetting the substrate before spreading theadhesive could help extend the open time.If a superficial skin has formed re-freshenthe adhesive again by re-spreading it witha notched trowel. It is not recommended towet the adhesive with water once a skin has

    formed because, instead of dissolving theskin, the water will form an anti-adhesive film.If necessary, tiles should be adjusted within30 minutes of installation, after which timeadjustment becomes difficult.Floor and wall coverings installed with

    Bonding small sized ceramic tiles onrenders in swimming pools.

    TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICSAdesilex P10 is a particularly fine whitepowder composed of cement, gradedaggregates, synthetic resins and specialadditives according to a formulationdeveloped in MAPEIs research laboratories.

    Adesilex P10 mixed with the correct amountof water or Isolastic becomes a mortar withthe following features:

    white in colour. It enhances the colours ofglass mosaic tiles;

    a creamy paste which is easily workable;

    excellent adhesion to all conventionalmaterials used in building;

    highly thixotropic:Adesilex P10 canbe applied on a vertical surface withoutsagging or slipping even when heavy tilesare used. Mosaic tiles can be installed fromthe top towards the bottom without usingspacer pegs;

    particularly extended open and adjustabilitytime, making installation easier.

    N.B.MixingAdesilex P10withIsolasticdiluted 1:1 with water will further improveits characteristics up to the requirement ofclass C2ES1 (highly-deformable, improvedcementitious adhesive with extended opentime) according to EN 12004.

    RECOMMENDATIONSUseAdesilex P10 mixed with Isolastic

    diluted 1: 1 with water in the following cases: for installing glass mosaic or ceramic tileson non absorbent surfaces (Mapelastic,Mapelastic Smart, Mapegum WPS, tiles,etc.);

    for installing glass mosaic or ceramictiles in swimming pools, basins or similarstructures even on absorbent substrates.

    Do not useAdesilex P10 in the followingcases: on wood or wooden conglomerates;

    on metal, rubber, PVC or linoleum surfaces;

    for ceramic tile installations when anadhesive layer thicker than 5 mm isrequired;

    on concrete subject to strong delayedmovement, that is, with less than 6 monthscuring time.

    A particularly moist substrate could slowdown the setting ofAdesilex P10.

    APPLICATION PROCEDUREPreparing the substrateThe substrates must be cured, sound, freeof loose parts, grease, oils, paint, wax and

    sufficiently dry.Cementitious substrates must not be subjectto shrinkage after the installation of the tiles.During warm weather, renders must be curedat least one week per centimeter of thicknessand cementitious screeds must be cured
