UT Martin Softball to host winter camp The Haywood Tomcats faced a familiar foe in the cold last Friday night against the Dyersburg Trojans and Coach Bart Stowe. With a victory the Tomcats would secure the final playoff spot. The game was back and forth as both teams were evenly matched in the dead heat game. Haywood scored on the Tomcats first drive of the night as Justice Brown ran in for a touchdown, one of his two scores on the night. The extra point was blocked as the defense broke through the offensive line after the snap. Haywood also had an 80 yard drive and two point conversion that evened the score up right at halftime 22-22. Jarvis Johnson scored on an 80 yard dump off pass from Quintavious Caldwell that seemingly put the Tomcats into the game in the second half. Both teams defense were evenly matched as Dyersburg began to pull away with two unanswered scores. George McRae added a long reception for a gain of 56 yards on the night and Jerry Bradford chipped in with a few huge hits on defense that was heard in the stands. The final score was Tomcats 29, Dyersburg 37 as the Tomcats could not seem to keep pace Haywood ends season with loss to Dyersburg The Tomcats get stopped at the line of scrimmage.
