ROUGH AND COLOURFUL TITLES. This tells the audience that it’s an upbeat,

carefree movie.

CAT IS DIFFERENT TO THE OTHERS. Comparing Cat (right) to the other girls instantly shows the audience

the difference, confirming the fact that Cat is possibly an outcast. Because Cat is the main character, and she is so different from the

rest of the characters, the audience expects something different to the stereotypical Rom Coms.

Cats uniqueness also acts as a Narrative Hook. We want to know the back story, why is she so different to the others?

• Chipped paint work• The bonnet of the car is a

different colour from the rest of the car.

• Cat has a moody facial expression.

• Perfect shiny new car.• All girls are happy and

having a good time.

MUSIC AND PERSONALITY

Using any sort of score to suite a characters personality will instantly give the audience an idea of what sort of person they are.

For cat they use ‘Bad Reputation’ to confirm the audiences view that Cat is a reckless character who just doesn’t “give a damn”!

THE TITLE

The use of the title is key to the story as well. As an audience we are intrigued and want to know: What are the ten things? Who are they about? Why are they things that she

hates?

These questions act as Narrative Hooks for the story.

And because Cat is the main character we know these will be things that Cat hates.
