10 Most Inspirational Team Songs

Nobody can deny how important songs are in our lives. Especially in India, singing whether

in our movies or in our Antaksharis or our bathrooms is something very ingrained in most

of us. Can songs also help motivate people?

History is replete with the power songs have in motivating people in the toughest of

circumstances. No surprise then that every army in the world has a band that belts out the

most inspiring and patriotic of tunes. Also, if you have you ever wondered why national

anthems are played before key matches commence its because of the effect they have in

lifting up the spirit of the most hardened individuals in a way which nothing else can do.

Here are a few stories of the power of songs & poems over us humans:

In the aftermath of the sinking of RMS Titanic, survivors reported that the Titanic'sband played the hymn Lord Abide With Me - as the ship was sinking. This hymn

was also said to be a favourite of none other than Mahatma Gandhi.

Joanna Gimme Hope a song by Eddy Grant, became a well-known anti-apartheidreggae anthem in the 1980s, during the apartheid era in South Africa. The song was

banned by the South African government when it was released, but was widely

played in South Africa nonetheless.

Similarly, We Shall Overcome is a protest song that became a key anthem of theAfrican-American Civil Rights Movement (19551968) and helped rally millions to

the cause. The Indian version of the same song, calledHum Honge Kamyab, became

just as popular too.

theme to the romantic comedy film Mannequi. A great song that works for all teams

2. Yaha ke hum Sikandarwas the main title song of Movie, Jo Jeeta wahi Sikandar in1992. This has been one of the favorite songs played in many schools for annual

sports days and has been a hit throughout. It has a winning punch in it. It works

great with young teams and gives that push of adrenaline to perform.

3. Waving flagis global chartbuster composed by Knaan for FiFA World Cup 2010. Thissong has its own charisma. When played as Karaoke for the teams, this creates an

amazing environment.

4. We Are the Championsis a power ballad written by Freddie Mercury and recordedand performed by British rock band Queen for their 1977 album News of the World.One of their most famous and popular songs, it remains among rock's most

recognizable anthems. This is a tried and tested song for all kind of teams; this old

number has an aura around it and carries a taste of winning together.

5. Yeh Dosti Hum Nahin Chodenge the popular Bollywood number from Sholey wasfeatured on the friendship of Amitabh Bachchan and Dharmendra. A super hit for

decades, this is one song that works wonders for younger teams of all kinds.

6. Aashayain from the movie Iqbal, conveys the clear message of fighting against allodds. Brings out positivity and a sense of hope in the team.

7. Chale Chalo A song from the movie Lagaan, it became synonymous withrepresenting the strength of a team, the power of hope against something which

seems unachievable. This song gives teams courage to challenge all the odds.

8. Baadal Pe Paaon Hain from Chak De India. A very touchy song sung in a very livelymanner. A song that surely delivers the sense of achievement and happiness to your

team players. Great as a feel good song.

9. Haan Ye Hi Lakshya Hai Tera from the movie Lakshya. A very powerful song thatsets the tone for sharing a common vision within a team.

10.Eye Of The Tiger One of the classic and best motivational songs ever. This song, ofcourse, is from the movie Rocky. Eye of the Tiger - heart of a champion inspires

teams to stay focused and go all out to achieve their goals.
