Located on the banks of the Maribyrnong River and a short walk from the Footscray train station, Footscray Community Arts Centre (FCAC) is a highly versatile cultural precinct with unique outdoor and indoor spaces to accommodate a wide range of events.
FCAC specialises in corporate meetings or events, weddings, parties, and has a specialist team of event managers, front of house and production staff available to develop tailored functions and performances.
By holding your next function at FCAC, you will not only make an impact on your guests, you will make a real impact in your community. All proceeds from our venue hire and event management services go straight back to FCAC’s important work in supporting communities of Melbourne’s west and maintaining our venue for the years to come.

Venue HireFCAC offers a variety of unique spaces across our arts precinct that is perfect for your next occasion. The venue hire fee includes use of the hired space and covers access to basic furniture such as tables, chairs, tablecloths and some technical equipment. Specialist equipment, including the use of marquees or production that is more elaborate can be discussed and quoted for by the Event Coordinator.
Event Coordination ServiceDrawing from a wealth of knowledge in activating FCAC’s spaces, Our Event Coordination service provides advice to support and maximise your event experience at FCAC. As your dedicated event contact, The Event Coordinator can advise on staffing requirements, organise production design meetings with our Production Coordinator and provide tours of our spaces.
Event Staffing and Production ServicesWe work with a dedicated team of technicians, sound engineers, front of house professionals and bartenders who can ensure the best possible outcome for your event. FCAC functions that include the service of alcohol or out-of-hours venue access require a Duty Manager to ensure the delivery of smooth and safe outcomes. The Event Coordinator will recommend the appropriate staff services required for a professional standard function.
Bar ServiceFCAC stocks a range of high-quality beverages such as locally brewed Two Birds beers and cider, CAPI Premium Soft Drinks and a selection of wines. An assortment of sweet and savoury bar snacks are also available.

The Performance Space is a stunning, contemporary, versatile and transformable black-box theatre, suitable for conferences, wedding ceremonies and receptions, film screenings, rehearsals, performances, meetings, expos, corporate presentations, forums and seminars.
The venue contains a retractable raked seating bank. Seated capacity can be increased by adding rows of seats on the floor in front of the seating bank. The space has theatrical studio and lighting capabilities, as well as a mounted data projector and screen. The wooden floor is fully sprung, making it suitable for dance and physical activities. The stained plywood walls are lined with sound absorbing black drapes that can cover all walls if desired. A small dressing room is adjacent to the space. This space is wheelchair accessible and opens to FCAC’s vibrant foyer with a fully licensed bar.

As a multifaceted space, the Basement Theatre can adequately accommodate meetings, presentations, training, parties, weddings, rehearsals, auditions, filming and more. Located in the lower level of historic Henderson House, it is a large room with bluestone walls, beautiful wooden floors and river-facing windows. The adjoining foyer has toilet facilities and a small kitchenette equipped with fridge, oven, stovetop, zip–boiler, and microwave. The foyer can be purposed as a breakout space for training days, lunch area or pre-show lounge. Fully licensed, the space can also be equipped and staffed as a bar. Wheelchair accessible via side entrance.

A multipurpose and light–filled room, the Jack Kennedy Meeting Room is an ideal space for meetings, interviews, presentation, training and smaller functions. The retractable wall can be utilised to connect the FCAC foyer area and Roslyn Smorgon Gallery. This opens up the space making it suitable for larger functions of up to 150 people (standing) including a bar setup.

FCAC welcomes proposals for large-scale music festival venue hire activations that align with FCAC’s programming values and vision.
Large-scale amplified music events require approval from both FCAC and Maribyrnong City Council, to ensure all relevant local laws are adhered to. Proposals for large-scale music venue hire events (750 pax+) on the FCAC Lawns must adhere to the following:
A minimum lead time of 6-7 months to allow adequate time for the Maribyrnong City Council permit process and adequate support and planning by FCAC. Proposals with less than 6 months headway will not be considered.
Adherence to best practice in noise, safety, risk, harm minimisation management and respect to our neighbours and the environment is imperative.
Note that venue hire and event management costs will be payable to FCAC for these types of events. Event permits may attract fees from local Council, which are the responsibility of the hirer.

FCAC accepts venue hire enquiries for indoor music and performance events with a maximum capacity of 250-300 people.
For music events under 750 people, FCAC does not offer outdoor venue hire to external producers for amplified music events. Events with low-level noise or acoustic music may be considered for outdoor events (eg Theatre).

Does FCAC provide catering?FCAC can only provide drinks catering at your event. We can suggest suitable local caterers. You may wish you ask about hiring the ArtLife Studio as part of your event for your chosen caterer to access kitchen facilities.
Do we have to use FCAC’s bar services if we have our event at FCAC?Yes. FCAC is fully licensed. To control the quality of service and safety of guests to FCAC, alcohol can only be served and sold by FCAC staff. Hirers are not permitted to serve or bring their own alcohol to any of our venues, including the amphitheatre/outdoor areas. By using FCAC’s bar service, you are also supporting FCAC, a registered Australian charity.
Is there parking available on-site?There are two hour unmetered car parks at FCAC’s front lawn and metered parking on Moreland Street. Alternatively, you can catch a train to Footscray Station and take a 5 minute walk down Bunbury Street, or take the 402 bus to the corner of Moreland Street and Dynon Road, and then walk a few hundred meters down Moreland Street.

Is your venue accessible?All of FCAC’s indoor venues are wheelchair accessible. Please see https://footscrayarts.com/visit/ for more information about accessibility at our venue.
Can I have glitter or confetti at my event?FCAC does not allow confetti or glitter to be used at events. Petals or organic material that won’t harm the environment may be considered.
What time can I access the venue? FCAC can staff your event at any time (refer to ‘Our Services’). Note that any amplified music needs to cease by 10pm if the event is outside to respect our neighbours. When you book an event at FCAC, you can stipulate the access times required, which will form part of your venue hire agreement with us.
Does FCAC have noise restrictions?Local laws that prevent amplified music beyond 10pm in outdoor areas bind FCAC. In adherence to this and in consideration of our neighbours, FCAC has a right to decline outdoor events with amplified music.
Can FCAC organise security guards for my event?Security guards may be required for your event. FCAC arranges security guards if relevant to your event.
Can I book my wedding a year in advance?FCAC is an arts centre with a mandate to service our community. As such, FCAC cannot confirm availability of a space more than 8 months in advance without prior consent from our programming department.
