This company produced wonderfully lithographed decks over a period from 1860 to the early 1920’s. Their decks are very collectible and often found in the USA. The book [in German] has 248 pages of information about their packs including colored pictures of most brands. A must have! Minimum bid $15
Lot #100 - Two lithographs [European] of men playing cards. It is difficult to determine their age but they are likely from the middle to late 19th century. One shows three men gambling at cards with a 'dandy' signaling to the cheating player and the other shows men gambling at cards and dice in a tavern. Lot #101 - Fabulous sample foldout for Congress cards that opens to 66 inches wide and 11 inches high. There are several panels that make up the folder and there are nine different sample cards pasted on each side of each panel. There are 120 cards in all, 117 of which show their backs. The front of the folder [shown on right] has a list of the names and numbers of some of the cards that are pasted on the various panels. We have also shown one of the panels with nine of the colorful sample cards. These folders are difficult to find and this one contains many more cards than most.

Lot #102 - Complete mint set of the catalogue of the Cary Collection. The collection was amassed by Melbert B. Cary Jr. in the 1920’s & 1930’s and was bequeathed by his widow to Yale University where it resides. The catalogue of this collection of antique and contemporary playing cards; playing card plates, blocks and sheets; and playing card ephemera was published in 1981 by Yale University Press in four hardbound volumes with pictures, descriptions, references, indices and much general playing card information. Cary also published a scarce and collectible deck commemorating the 1918 armistice known as the 26
th Yankee Division Playing Cards [SQ pictured].

Lot #103 – A nice aluminum box in good shape, designed to hold a deck of playing cards. The box shows cupid with a bow and arrow, the latter which can be moved to point to a suit sign or no trumps [that are somewhat faded]. Lot #104 – Great advertising envelope for NYCC with a terrific logo for their Paris Exposition of 1878 award winning Squeezer cards. The logo is essentially a replication of the NY49 Squeezer Ace. The book was published in 1989 by Editions Nathan in Paris. The cards are well described and beautifully presented on a black background.
