Objectives•Share information on FMD virus circulation (national and regional level) in the region to assist planning of preventive measures in the short term•Review progress along the Regional Roadmap towards the vision of Shiraz 2008 ‘Free from clinical FMD by 2020’ assessment + planification

Assessment procedure

•Each country completes the PCP checklist prior to the Roadmap meeting•Countries should come to the meeting with evidence to justify the checklist answers•During the meeting, countries are ‘interviewed’ by a Regional Advisory Group•At the conclusion of the meeting, a Stage is assigned to the country (may be provisional)

Countries should answers the following questions:

•How to progress within and to the next stage?•What are the main challenges to progress and how van these be overcome to maintain the current stage and/or to progress to the next one?•What external support do you need to progress?

•5th West-Eurasia FMD Roadmap meeting (Astana/Kazakhstan, 28-30 April 2014)

•Under development: OIE-FAO Global Strategy for the control of PPR; similar progressive control approach (4 stages?)
