Overview of FMD Control in Thailand

Department of Livestock Development (DLD) developed national control plan and has worked together with neighboring countries through SEAFMD and later SEACFMD campaign since the early 1990s .

FMD is regarded as one of the most important transboundaryanimal disease to control and eradicate in ASEAN.

DLD has imposed policy to progressively control FMD through application of the Progressive Control Pathway (PCP).

DLD complies the SEACFMD Roadmap as strategy and goal for regional FMD eradication in 2020.

Legislation – The Animal Epidemics Act B.E.2499 (1956) and its revision B.E.2542 (1999)

National Plan• Strategic Plan comprising 8 components (Resource

management, law amendment, disease surveillance and control, livestock sector development, public relation, research and technology development, international collaboration, monitoring and evaluation)
