GOOD evening to everyone attending today’s match against Hayling United. I would like to wish all of their offi-cials, players and supporters, as well as the match officials, a warm welcome to Petersfield.

Another Wednesday night and another match to con-tend with. It seems that the flow of home matches just will not come to an end for us.

We have one tonight and then another one on Wednes-day next week. At least we get a Saturday off at the week-end when we travel to Aylesbury United.

It’s not that we aren’t grateful for all of these home matches as they help to swell the coffers with the revenue which keeps on coming in.

But it does put considerable strain on our resources and our volunteers so I would like to say a big thank you to all of the club’s helpers for their considerable hard work in keeping up with all of the matches in the last few weeks.

One question I have been asked is why do we charge normal admission prices for cup matches like the Ports-mouth Senior Cup.

The simple answer is that whatever the match we play our costs remain the same. We still have to pay the match officials and we still have to pay the same utility bills while the stadium facilities are in use.

We have also invested considerable sums of money in the stadium facilities – new stands and floodlight fittings do not come cheap and we are still having to pay off the costs of having these.

We do realise that the number of home games we have had puts considerable strain on your financial resources too and we regularly review our admission pricing policies.

But we have to meet the increasing costs of football whatever competition we are playing in.

Enjoy the game and come on you Rams!!!GRAEME MOIR, CHAIRMAN

TO MARK Petersfield Town’s record breaking run in this season’s FA Cup, supporters can now buy a special commemoration pack of all the programmes produced for the cup ties played at Love Lane.

A new print run of the sold out edi-tions for the Weymouth, Cirencester Town and St Albans City matches is to be done and will be sold as a special pack of three programmes so supporters and programme collectors can buy a lasting momento of the historic cup run.

The pack will include one copy of each edition for the FA Cup ties played at Love Lane, and as an added bonus each pack will include at least two other programmes from matches played in what is Petersfield

Town’s first ever season in the Evo-Stik League Southern. Each pack, which will include a minimum of five official matchday programmes, will cost £10 and this includes postage and packing charges.

To obtain one of the special programme packs you need to send a cheque made pay-able to Petersfield Town Football Club and send your name and address to: Petersfield Town FC, Love Lane Stadium, Petersfield, Hants, GU31 4BW.

Alternatively you can place your order at the bar in the clubhouse at the Love Lane Stadium on matchdays. You will be asked for payment and your name and address.

The packs will be posted out from the beginning of November.

PETERSFIELD Town are looking for mascots for all of their home games, and for both league and cup matches.

It is a fantastic opportunity for young-sters to get a taste of a matchday experience while also showing their support for the Rams and cheering the team on.

Any team from any youth club can sign up to take part. As part of their mascots package the youngsters get free entry into the game, a visit to the dressing room to meet the manager, warm up on the pitch before the game, the chance to walk out with the players before kick-off, taking part in a half time penalty competition and re-freshments at the start of the second half.

The experinence is completely free for

the youngsters. Any parents accompanying the young mascots have to pay the usual entry fee at the turnstiles but after that they have full access to the areas where the mascots will be so they can capture their big day on camera.

So far Sarisbury Sparks, Petersfield Town Juniors and Beacon Hill have taken part in the mascots scheme and we are now look-ing for other teams or clubs who want to visit us and be mascots for the day.

All you need to do to apply to be a mascot is check the fixture list for when the Saturday home matches are for Petersfield Town and let us know which game you want to attend. Call 01730 233416 or e-mail: [email protected] to apply.

MANAGER’S notes

I’D LIKE to wel-come Hayling United to Love Lane for this eve-ning’s Portsmouth Senior Cup match.

What a fantastic feeling it was to get a league win against St Ives Town on Saturday.

We had gone on a run of five consecutive

defeats so it was important to break that as quickly as possible.

I was very pleased with our performance, especially against a side who were second in the table before the game.

It proved once again what we have all been saying this season – we are more than good enough to compete at this level and once we can get into the habit of winning matches we will be able to climb the table.

We have a lot of hard work ahead of us to ensure we stay clear of the relegation zone. Let’s be clear about this, making sure we are still a Southern League club next season is our number one priority.

The aim every season is to get 40 points on the board as quickly as possible as this is usually enough points to stay up with.

Anything after that we view as a bonus. So if we hit our points target early then we can push on and set ourselves a new target to try and reach.

I think we all consider that we are able to finish in the top half of the table and the

more optimistic among us probably feel a play-off place could be achieved.

But let’s not get ahead of ourselves here. The first thing is to get that winning habit and move ourselves into a comfortable position in the league table and then go on from there.

Tonight gives us another short rest from league action with another tie in the Ports-mouth Senior Cup.

As we have stated previously we are taking this competition very seriously this season and we will be doing everything we can to try and win it.

We may decide to shuffle the squad around a little bit but this is essentially a first team game so we will be putting out a strong side to try and win the game.

We are hoping that our keeper Matt Shortt might be able to make his comeback from injury this evening.

Shortty has been out since the opening day of the season with an ankle injury but he is fit enough to start playing again now and he needs minutes out on the pitch.

However, Anthony Ender has been in fantastic form since he came to the club and I’m sure he doesn’t want to just hand his shirt over to Matt so there will be plenty of competition for the goalkeeper position in the coming weeks.

It’s good to see Shortty back fit as that means pretty much everyone in the squad is fit at the moment.

Please get behind the lads in the usual way this evening.

Enjoy the game tonight.
