1. According to global financial services major DBS, India's total foreign reserves touched a record high in September 2017

___USD 402.5 billion.

Note:

➢ Reserves bottomed out at USD 275 billion in August 2013, at the worst point of the Fed taper tantrum.

➢ The reserves stock has increased on the back of strong foreign portfolio inflows, net investment flows and a

narrower current account deficit.

2. According to the RBI, banks will provide funds to Women Self Help groups (SHGs) in rural areas at__ 7%.

Note:

➢ The central bank issued the revised guidelines on interest subvention scheme under DAY-NRLM (Deendayal

Antyodaya Yojana - National Rural Livelihoods Mission).

➢ All women SHGs will be eligible for interest subvention on credit upto 3 lakh rupees at 7% per annum.

3. The Union Government has approved a state bank recapitalization over the next 2 years___USD32.43 billion.

➢ The move aims to clean the balance sheets of the banks as well as revive investment in the economy.

4. Who has formed a 10-member task force in order to build a comprehensive public credit registry to improve market

5. India ranks in the Global Passport Power Rank 2017___ 75th.

Note:

➢ Advisory firm Arton Capital has published the 2017 Global Passport Power Rank.

➢ The index ranks passport of different countries based on their ‘total visa-free score’.

➢ Singapore has fetched the top spot at this year’s Global Passport Power rank, with a visa-free score of 159.

6. The agreement between the bank and Escorts Limited has been signed in order to help finance the farmers for the

purchase of Escort tractors ___ State Bank of India.

Note:

➢ Escorts Limited is a prominent manufacturer of tractors and construction equipment in Haryana.

➢ The agreement aims at promoting, marketing and providing easy access to finance facilities to the farmers across

the country at competitive rates, for the purchase of Powertrac and Farmtrac tractors manufactured by Escorts.

7. EPPC (Engineering Export Promotion Council) has signed a MoU with the bank in order to ease the financing process for

Small & Medium Enterprises as well as Merchant Exporters of the council ___ Punjab National Bank.

Note:

➢ Under the agreement, PNB would provide finance to the SMEs, under the assurance that advances up to Rs. 10

crores would be provided at competitive rates within 6-7 weeks.

8. Small Industries Development Bank of India (SIDBI) has revamped its portal to provide easy access to credit and hand-

holding services for micro small medium enterprises (MSME)____ www.udyamimitra.in.

1. India’s first Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Kendra (PMKK) for Skilling in Smart Cities has come up in the city ___New Delhi.

module and contribute to the capacity building of municipal employees through Recognition of Prior Learning

(RPL) program.

2. Who has recommended 40% carbon emission reduction in telecom network by 2022-23 ____ Telecom Regulatory

Authority of India (TRAI).

➢ The target for reduction in carbon emission be set as 30% by year 2019-20 taking base year as 2011-12 and 40%

➢ The report of carbon footprint of telecom operators should be submitted annually within 45 days after March of

➢ The proposed 'cotton-to-garment' park will be set up in an area of 2,000 – 3,000 acres, with a vision to have a “fibre to fabric (end-to-end)” facility.

➢ Now, the distance between Saurashtra and South Gujarat regions could be covered in less than an hour via-sea route.

➢ This service will reduce the distance between the Ghogha and Dahej from 310 kilometres by road to just 30 kilometres, which can be covered in one hour.

5. Two towns in Mathura district has now become the sacred pilgrimage sites___ Vrindavan and Barsana. Note:

➢ Recently, the Uttar Pradesh government issued an order notifying Vrindavan and Barsana district as “sacred pilgrimage sites”.

➢ No meat and liquor shops will be allowed in these towns anymore. ➢ The state government recently merged Vrindavan, a former Nagar Palika Parishad, with the Mathura municipal

board to create Mathura Nagar Nigam. 6. The state govt. has signed MoU with the Microsoft Corporation India Private Limited, to empower smallholder farmers and

lift their fortunes____ Karnataka Govt. Note:

➢ The collaboration aims to enable these farmers with technology-oriented solutions that will help them increase income using ground-breaking, cloud-based technologies, machine learning and advanced analytics.

➢ Microsoft in collaboration with the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has deployed a Sowing Advisory Service in the kharif season on a limited pilot, under the Bhoochetana project.

7. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Government of India signed a loan agreement to continue interventions to check coastal erosion on the Western Coast in Karnataka__ USD 65.5 million. Note:

➢ The loan is the Second Tranche of a USD 250 million financing facility under the Sustainable Coastal Protection and Management Investment Program.

8. The World Bank and Government of India have signed a loan agreement for the Assam Agribusiness and Rural transformation project ___ USD 200 million. Note:

➢ The Project will support the state to facilitate agri-business investments, increase agricultural productivity and market access.

1. Japan's ruling coalition has won an overwhelming victory in general election___ Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) and Komeito party. Note:

➢ The LDP, led by Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, secured 283 seats, one less than before the election but far more than a simple majority of 233.

➢ Komeito won 29, bringing the total of seats held by the ruling camp to 312.

2. The Bangladesh Petroleum Corp. (BPC) has signed a long-term sales and purchase agreement to import gas oil to meet the country’s energy demand ___Numaligarh Refinery Ltd (NRL). Note:

➢ BPC will take up to 250,000 tonnes of gas oil each year from NRL for the first three years of the deal to the BPC’s northern fuel depot via a 131-km (79 mile) pipeline, which will be built by India.

➢ The International Criminal Court is an intergovernmental organization and international tribunal which has the
