EUROPE 12.8A joint EU/WHO project on the European Public Health Information

Network for Eastern Europe EUPHIN-EAST ( started on 1 January 1997) assessed the feasibility of linking distributed national databases via the Internet into a network. The project demonstrated the feasibility of this approach in a pilot using the data from the European HFA-DB and national servers in seven countries. Further implementation would require the establishment and harmonization of national databases both content and IT-wise across Europe.the European Health for all database contains data on about 600 health indicators collected from national counterparts in 51 European countries and also includes data from other WHO technical programs and some international organizations.
