ANNOUNCEMENT

WELCOME MESSAGE
A very warm welcome to all of you to the 11th Malaysian International ORL-HNS Congress in conjunction with the 39th Annual General Meeting of the Malaysian Society of Otorhinolaryngologists - Head & Neck Surgeons (MSO-HNS) and Annual Scientific Meeting and in collaboration with the Chapter of Otorhinolaryngologists - Head & Neck Surgeons from 20th - 22nd June 2019 in Royale Chulan, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Chapter of Otorhinolaryngologists - Head & Neck Surgeons was inaugurated on 11th May 2018 and this congress is the combinemeeting between MSOHNS with the Chapter of Otorhinolaryngologist - Head & Neck Surgeons.
This year, the meeting is special. This congress is co-organised with Chapter of Otorhinolaryngologist - Head & Neck Surgeons and the Annual Scientific Meeting is incorporated as part of the Congress. The rationale is to allow the post graduate student to present their research work to a larger crowd and in a more prestigious meeting. Apart from this, the concurrent symposiums are mixture of lecture, panel discussion and instructional course for all disciplines.
This congress serves to update our surgeon and trainees and covers several areas of interests including live demonstration on laryngology, head & neck, otology and rhinology. Not forgetting our beloved nurses and paramedic, the last day of the congress was dedicated to them. The programme is tailored by them and for them. There will be hands-on demonstration that is useful for their day to day care.
The pre-congress on cochlear implant will be co-organised with the Institute HEARS (IHEARS) to complement the congress.
I would express my greatest gratitude to the Organising Committee that believe in me and had tirelessly work hard in making this congress a successful one. A special thank to the biomedical industries that had placed their trust in the society and marched strongly support this event.
Last but not least, I wish all delegates a memorable meeting and enjoy the fellowship among the ENT fraternity.
Kong Min HanPresidentMalaysian Society of Otorhinolaryngologists - Head & Neck Surgeons (MSO-HNS)

FORMATION OF CHAPTER OFOTORHINOLARYNGOLOGISTS HEAD AND
NECK SURGEONS - MOVE IN UNITY AND LET BEKNOWN THAT WE ARE READY
This 11th Malaysian International ORL-HNS Congress and the 39th Annual General Meeting marks a historic landmark in our journey as a fraternity of ORL-HNS. This congress is the first congress organised by the Chapter of Otorhinolaryngologists and Head and Neck Surgeons under the College of Surgery, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia. It is a step closer to the main objective which eventually leads us to our own College of Otorhinolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery. It has been a challenging road for us to reach this point and upon reaching this it will further fuel us to move even closer to make it a reality in transforming our society into an institution that will be the sole representative of the fraternity in matters related to quality clinical services, education and training, research, social responsibilities and well-being of its fellows.
The Chapter was inaugurated into the College of Surgeons during its annual scientific congress on the 11th May 2018. Since then we have continued our society’s activities which we have been successfully organising and we hope with this new era as a Chapter we can be more stronger moving forward united and standing tall with other chapter and at the end prove to College and Academy that we are capable to stand on our own as the College of ORL-HNS. We hope that the encouraging support for the formation of College of ORL - Head and Neck Surgery from the Academy of Medicine will never subside and by showing our commitment as a group will further gain the Academy trust and support.
The sub-committee of the Chapter formed by the EXCO has finalised a draft of the bylaws of the chapter and will be discussed and finally endorsed by the members during this congress. The bylaws among others will be about the establishment of independent regulations and rules which obliged with those of the academy and College, the executive committee which consist of Chairman and board members elected by the members of the chapter and the management of the chapter’s finances.
Looking ahead, the Chapter will be a platform for us to continue our activities and at the same time as a transit for us to prove that we are more than capable and ready to eventually form our college of ORL-HNS contributing positively to our nation through our members’ diverse profession and specialisation.
“What you think, you become. What you feel, you attract. What you imagine, you create.”
