A-Rod’s real name is Alexander Emmanuel Rodriguez. He was born on

July 27, 1975 in New York City.

A-Rod’s family is originally from the Dominican Republic. He lived there as a

child but grew up mainly in Miami, Florida.

When he was 18, A-Rod became one of the youngest players ever to play in Major League Baseball. He played for

the Seattle Mariners in Seattle, Washington.

After he left the Mariners, A-Rod played for the Texas Rangers in Arlington,

Texas. He continued to be an awesome hitter and played shortstop.

In 2003, while still playing for the Texas Rangers, A-Rod was named the Most Valuable Player in the American

League.
