first couple rows of tubes. Beyond that it isjust simply the force of air pushing thedebris through the tubes. Lower pressureblasting can actually pack the debris inthe middle of the tubes and increase theback pressure. Our high pressure blastingforcefully blows the debris completelythrough bundles and is proven to be effective in bundles containing twenty rowsof tubes.

• Our technique is very specific and wespend a lot of time blasting on each face.We blast from bottom to top and then fromtop to bottom and repeat the process soeach face is hit at least four times. Aftereach cleaning we inspect the face to insurethat the debris is removed from the tubes. Ifany debris remains then the tubes are blastedagain until the remaining debris is removed.Upon completion of blasting, we bore scopeeach face to insure that the debris is indeed removed from the tubes. We do not want tospeculate that the tubes are clean deep inside,we want to know they are.

• We provide a turnkey service for our customers. We try to inconvenience ourcustomers as little as possible so we offer baffle plate removal, tube scaffold or skyclimber access, and full clean up of theHRSG. If disposal is an issue then we can dispose of the debris for you as well. In addition, we offer SCR and CO catalystcleaning so our customer can have a one stopshop for all their work. Furthermore, we provide inlet restoration (filter/mediaremoval, blasting and painting of filter houses, evap coolers, and transitions), blasting andpainting of the inside and outside of stacks, blasting and painting of the outside of theHRSG, generator cleaning, turbine blade

Precision Iceblast Corporation is hands downthe world’s leader in HRSG cleaning. We area highly specialized company that provides aninvaluable service to our customers to insurethat their HRSG’s are running as efficiently aspossible. Our experience, capabilities, and rep-utation are unsurpassed. We are recommendedby almost every OEM in the industry includingNooter/Eriksen, NEM, Deltak, Siemens, Al-stom, Stork, Vogt, HRST, Donaldson Gas Tur-bine Systems. Our reputation for cleaningHRSG’s has gotten so strong that the requestfor our services have spanned all over theworld. Our cleaning results consistently pro-vide decreased back pressure, increased heattransfer, and increased output.

Precision Iceblast Corporation cleans moreHRSG’s than any other ice blasting companyin the world. We consistently hear from ourcustomers that they have tried numerouscleaning companies and NOBODY has gottenthem the results that we have. Our high detailto quality work, unsurpassed results, stellaremployee work ethic, and impeccablecustomer service are the main reasons thatwhen we get a customer, we don’t lose them. The following bullet points are what separatesus from other companies and truly makes usthe World’s Greatest at cleaning HRSG’s.

• We manufacture our own equipment. The equipment on the market just isn’t capable of performing to the standardsthat are required to properly clean an HRSG.Making our own equipment also gives usthe ability to keep up with the high demand

of our services. Having the ability to makeour own equipment allows us to alwayshave enough machines to clean as manyHRSG’s at one time as necessary; we neverhad to turn down a job because we didn’thave enough equipment to perform the work.

• We always get the work done during thelimited down time that our customers have.Regardless of the duration of the shutdownand the number of faces that need blasting,we’ll get the work done. We work aroundthe clock and add as many blasting guns as necessary in order to complete the projectin the given time frame . This is extremely important to our customers to know thatthey can count on us to meet their timeconstraints.

• We blast at very high pressures (350 psi). The dry ice does a great job cleaning the

cleaning, and header cleaning for nonde-structive testing. Although we take on a lotof responsibility we constantly get comple-mented on how the plant did not have tobabysit us on any of our work.

• Our company can blast any HRSG almostanywhere in the world. We have the knowl-edge and the experience to go wherever ourcustomers need us and we are capable of traveling to any destination regardless of how remote it is. Our employees areequipped with passports and our equipmentis easily packed into containers that can beshipped by plane or ship.

• We are the only company in the world thatcan perform the patented deep cleaning tech-nology. This tube spreading allows us toprovide a service to our customers that virtually no other company can. When a cus-tomer has a larger bundle, a bundle with verytight tube spacing, or a bundle containingvery heavy build up then tube spreading isdefinitely the most effective method to cleanthe bundles. Schematics of the HRSG are reviewed and engineering calculations fordetermining the tube stresses are performedbased on the tube geometries and bundlearrangements. The tube spreading calcula-tions are performed to make certain that thetubes are not overstressed during the process.Upon completion of the stress calculations, custom tube spreading devices are fabricatedspecifically for that tube geometry. A custom cleaning plan is created for eachHRSG to maximize the use and location ofthe tube spreading devices as well as thecleaning lances used for cleaning deep intothe bundle. The tube spreading frequency in

the customized cleaning plan is dictated bythe tube geometry and tenacity of the foulantthat is to be removed. In areas with aggres-sive foulant, the frequency can be every single tube. This creates direct access to sig-nificantly more heat transfer surface for removal of the stubborn debris. The frequency of the cleaning lanes created isslightly reduced when cleaning light and airydebris from the fins. In these situations weusually spread tubes every 3rd to 4th tubetransverse to gas flow (see figure 1). Oncethe tube spreading and deep cleaning is com-pleted for a given area a Precision Iceblastproject manager will inspect the tube bundlesand sign off on the cleanliness, before movingon to the next area. Although some customersinitially have concerns over spreading theirtubes, we have NEVER caused damage toany tube in any HRSG. This technology has

truly revolutionized the industry. No longeris the debris packed into the middle of theunit. Tube spreading allows the tube moduleto be cleaned completely from one side to theother. We have had tremendous success withmodules containing up to 24 rows of tubes.

• Our employees undergo extensive training. They are certified in confinedspace and scaffold erection. All employeesundergo 10 hour OSHA, Hazwoper, C7blasting, CPR, First Aid, Fork Lift, and Aerial Lift training. They are experts inworking at elevations and containment. Ourwell trained employees insure that the job isbeing done correctly and safely. We havebeen performing ice blasting for over twodecades. Our safety record is impeccableand we have NEVER recorded a lost timeaccident.

Why Clean Your HRSG?Generally speaking, for every 1/2 inch ofback pressure we are able to decrease theplant should see an approximate $100,000USD gain in efficiency over the next twelvemonths. Of course, this depends on severalfactors including fuel cost and plant runtimes. Therefore, even the smallest reductionin back pressure can mean significant dollarsto the plant’s bottom line. We can generallyrecover 50% of the back pressure for the plantfrom our cleanings. Therefore, it is important not to wait for your back pressureto get too high before the cleaning occurs because you can never fully recover 100percent of your back pressure. Every little bitof back pressure can mean significant dollar losses for the plant.

Environmentally SafeDry ice may be white in color, but itcertainly has strong “green” qualities.During a time in the world’s history wherethere is a strong focus on preserving theenvironment, CO2 blasting can boast of beingthe most environmentally safe method forcleaning. Once the dry ice hits a surface, itvaporizes, turns into a gas, and returns backto its natural state in the atmosphere. There-fore, there is no waste to clean up other thanwhatever material is blasted off. This is veryenvironmentally significant because ice blast-ing eliminates harmful chemicals, truckloadsof hazardous materials, and enormousamounts of media to dispose of. The savingsin disposal costs can then be very significant. In addition, the improved efficiency of theboiler will allow the plant to use less fuel toproduce power. Therefore, the reduced fuelconsuption will also reduce the amount ofCO2 output from the plant creating additional environmental benefits.
