PERSPECTIVE
• Truck traffic at the border
– 4.8M+ Incoming trucks from Mexico in 2007 (ref: BTS)
• Current Piecemeal and partial solutions
• Non existing integration between security, logistics, and traffic
• Lack of tools for infrastructure planning and optimization
• Detrimental conditions for trade between the U.S. and Mexico

ORION’SINTEGRATION PLATFORM
• A proprietary modeling and simulation framework• Can be tailored to specific applications• Flexible, extensible, and cost-effective
• Co-developed between ORION and Sandia National Labs• More than 10 years of development• Commercialized and supported by ORION
• Allows end-to-end systems integration• From data to actionable information• Facilitates creating decision support tools
• Allows simplified management of systems and sub-systems• Reduces interaction complexity from N2 to N• Handles unknown number of systems without re-coding

CLOSING REMARKS
• Technology-based solutions for logistics-related issues are available and positioned for prime time
• Integration platforms that address security offer value added benefits at local, regional, and national levels
• The ability to visualize, communicate, and analyze trade-related events is critical to keep up with progress
• “Keeping up with” is not enough
• SUCCESS will depend on accessibility to information, technology-based decision support tools, and the ability to test, evaluate, predict and plan in a safe and cost-effective environment
• We can make it happen now
