Control can be defined as narrowlyas the process MANAGEMENTtakes to assure that the actual Performance conforms, OR –

more broadly as anything that coordinates the process or activity of an ORGANIZATION and Association

Concepts– Core concepts of collaboration clearly lies in the

division of responsibility in order to drive - tourism.

– Private sector responsibility can be upheld through self-regulation, in co-operation and with the guidance of Associations. Although the associations themselves should not become governing bodies as this does not diminish the Status Quo, merely a shift.

– Official Tourist Organizations can bare the regulation of the sector whilst in-keeping close relations with the Associations of which the “OTO” is a member of.

CONTEXT – WYSE Travel Confederation represent 8 Sector Associations

Our members include the following types of organizations: Adventure Tour Operators - Au Pair Agencies - Backpacker Companies – Cultural Exchange Programs – International Education - Language Schools & Agents -Student Insurance - Student Flights - Student Identity Cards – Work Abroad and Volunteering Programs - Youth & Student Travel Retailers – Youth Hostels - Booking Engines – Products and Services relating to the youth and student travel industry – Tourism Boards & Official Tourism Organizations.

Self GovernanceGovernments might tend to limit the growth of programs and apply them different in each country – Example - Cultural Exchange - Ms. Anna Danshina

Work exchange really works!Anna, a former USA work & travel participant, now the Public Diplomacy Campaigns Manager at the British Embassy in Moscow.A great example of how programs like this can change a young person’s life.
