A short video of his Eagle Scout project conducted at the City of Children, Ensenada, Mexico, will be shown. The gift of your presence is requested. Donations may be made to support God’s work in the lives of the children in Ensenada to http://www.cityofchildren.com. Perhaps now more than ever, it is crucial for Christians to be able to give an intelligent and reasonable answer when inquirers or skeptics ask why we place such “blind” faith in the Bible. The purpose of this course is to examine the evidence supporting the divine origin, authority, and reliability of the Bible; and to trace the history of events that led to the publication of the English language Bibles we read today. Please join Mike Monroe in room NW-3/5 from 7:00-7:45 p.m. to study the important topic of “How We Got the Bible.” Join us for an evening of fellowship, good food and games on Friday, August 14, 6:00 p.m., in the Family Life Center. The menu will be Mexican casseroles, salads, and desserts. Bring your favorite and a friend! Fellowship is on the 14th, there was an error on the 49er calendar. I am overjoyed to join the church family here at Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ! My wife, Kristen, and I have been praying that we would find a home where we can worship and minister to others and we sure feel that we have found that in this church. I graduated from Abilene Christian University with a BM in Vocal Performance in 2013. While at ACU, I was the lead role in many operas including Amahl and the Night Visitors and Carmen. My opera path continued as I went on to perform the role of The Angel in the world premiere of A New Nation, performed the title role in The Marriage of Figaro, and was awarded 2nd place in the graduate division of the National Association of Teachers of Singing. However, God had a different plan for me. I began studies at SMU and had the opportunity to lead worship each week in Ennis, TX in the church in which I grew up. During my two years in that church, it became obvious to me that leading worship was what God had planned for me. I have been privileged to attended Keith Lancaster’s Praise and Harmony workshops as well as his annual Worship Leader Institute. Since then, I have begun to develop my own ministry, and I greatly look forward to continuing to grow and lead here at Pleasant Ridge. Kristen, my better half, also graduated from ACU with a BM in Vocal Music Education. She is about to begin her 3rd year as an elementary music teacher in Richardson. Kristen and I now live in Mesquite with our 2 dogs, Liam and Nala. I truly cannot wait to get to know each of you and for Kristen and me to find our places within this family. I want to leave you with this statement that I believe whole-heartedly and that you will hear from me again and again: “Singing isn’t for singers. Singing is for believers!” I want to encourage each of you to sing to the Lord with all your hearts. Psalm 13:6 – I will sing the Lord’s praise, for He has been good to me.
