Members,It’s hard to believe that summer is two-thirds complete. It
seems that time flies over these hot months. But as summersizzles away, here are a few important items and events go-ing o5n in your Jackson Chamber and in your community:
• Please remember to vote Aug. 4. The Jackson AreaChamber strongly encourages you to vote YES on the waterbond issue. We believe the improvements and upgrades tothe city’s water infrastructure afforded by this bond issueare critically important to future development andsustainability of the City of Jackson. From replacing agingand deteriorating pipe to expanding the water supply, theseimprovements will have a direct, positive impact on exist-ing businesses in Jackson, and allow opportunity for futurebusiness growth as well. We believe that these upgrades areurgently needed to address fire safety concerns and to meetprojected maximum daily water usage as the city continueson its growth trajectory. We encourage Jackson voters toeducate themselves on this critical issue, and to vote yes onAug. 4.
• School starts the middle of August. Please be aware ofincreased cars on the road during this time. The first days ofschool are always crowded with first-time students, first-time parents of these students, and the transportation thatgets them there. Allow ample time for the beginning of theschool year.
• In regards to education, the JACoC would like to wel-come new Jackson R-2 Superintendent Dr. Link to the areaas well as new Southeast Missouri State University Presi-dent Dr. Vargas. We are excited to have you both leadingour students!
• The JACoC is hosting its Brown Bag Business Speakerseries every Thursday in the month of August. This month’stheme is advertising, social media, and putting the ‘motion’in your promotion. These seminars are free to Chamber mem-
bers and offer a wealth of information. The Jackson Area Chamber would like to thank you
for your membership and commitment to the com-munity. Brian S. Gerau,
