When I Don’t Feel Like Being Good...

1 Peter 1:17–25

1. REDEEMED ...1 Peter 1:17-21

Since you call on a Father who judges each man's work impartially, live your lives as strangers here in reverent fear. For you know that it was not with perishable things such as silver or gold that you were REDEEMED from the empty way of life handed down to you from your forefathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect. He was chosen before the creation of the world, but was revealed in these last times for your sake. Through him you believe in God, who raised him from the dead and glorified him, and so your faith and hope are in God.

v23 For you have been BORN AGAIN, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through the living and enduring word of God.

v3 Jesus declared, "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is BORN AGAIN."

v4 "How can a man be born when he is old?" Nicodemus asked. "Surely he cannot enter a second time into his mother's womb to be born!"

2. REBORN - in the SpiritJohn 3:3-8

Jesus answered, "I tell you the truth, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless he is born of water and the Spirit. Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit gives birth to spirit. You should not be surprised at my saying, 'You must be BORN AGAIN.' The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone BORN OF THE SPIRIT."

2. REBORN - in the Spirit

Ref 1 John 3:9-10v9 No one who is BORN OF GOD will continue to

sin, because God's seed remains in him; he cannot go on sinning, because he has been BORN OF GOD.

v10 This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are: Anyone who does not do what is right is not a child of God; nor is anyone who does not love his brother.

A BORN AGAIN Christian is ....a New Creation...

3. RENEWED through the WORD1 Peter 1:23-25

For you have been born again, not of perishable seed, but of imperishable, through THE LIVING AND ENDURING WORD OF GOD.

For, "All men are like grass, and all their glory is like the flowers of the field; the grass withers and the flowers fall, but THE WORDOF THE LORD STANDS FOREVER." And this is the WORD that was preached to you.

3. RENEWED through the WORD

Ref Heb 4:12

v12 For THE WORD OF GOD is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

The Spirit gives life;.... The WORDS I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

Ref 2 Tim 2:15

Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a workman who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the WORD of truth.
