    6.3 Configuring MSP Protection

    6.3.1 Creating Two-Fiber MS SPRing

    Purpose

Use this procedure to create the Two-Fiber MS shared protection ring protection subnet.

    Prerequisites

NM user with the authority of "system maintainer" or above.

NE data has been configured, and fibers have been correctly created.

    Procedure

Step Action 1 Select [View/Protection View] from the Main Menu.

2 Select [Protection Subnet/Create/2f_MS SPRing]. The "2f_MS SPRing" wizard is displayed.

3 Enter the name of the protection subnet.

The default name is usually used, for example: 2f_MS SPRing_2.

4 Select the capacity level of the protection subnet.

    For example: STM-4.

5 Select "Assigned by VC4" and "Resource Sharing" as required.

Note: 1) The resource sharing means that a physical resource may belong to two protection subnets. If it is necessary to create multiple protection subnets on a single fiber, the resource sharing is necessary to be set for and from the second protection subnet.

    2) Assigned by VC4 into different protection subnets. To divide the resources by VC4 into different protection subnets is to implement the virtual optical path protection. It means that part of the VC4s in the fiber can be put into one protection subnet. For example, for one STM-16 fiber, the VC4s 1~4 belong to an STM-4 MSP, while VC4s 5~8 belong to a PP.

    3) As K1 and K2 bytes are needed for transferring information for the MSP, the first timeslot must be allocated to the MSP subnet. Moreover, there should be only one MSP subnet in one fiber.

9 Click to send the configurations.

The created protection subnet is displayed in the protection view.

10 Right-click the protection subnet and select [Protection Subnet Attributes].

    6.4 Configuring SNCP Protection

    Purpose

Set the SNCP node on the protection subnet to support the SNCP of different protection subnets. The SNCP node can support the dual-fed and selectively receive, thus implementing sub-network connection protection.

Generally, the incoming point and the outgoing point are created as the SNCP nodes.

It is a kind of service-level protection. The principle is based on dual-fed at incoming point and selectively receiving at the outgoing point.

Note: You need to create SNCP node only when the NE software (the software of system control unit) is 4.0 version. Refer to 4.7 Viewing Unit Version.

    Prerequisites

NM user with the authority of "system maintainer" or above.

Protection subnet has been created on the T2000.

    6.8 Configuring Non-Protection Chain

    Purpose

Use this procedure to create the Non-Protection Chain protection subnet.

    Prerequisites

NM user with the authority of "system maintainer" or above.

NE data has been configured, and fibers have been correctly created.

    Procedure

Step Action 1 Select [View/Protection View] from the Main Menu.

2 Select [Protection Subnet/Create/NP Chain]. The Create NP Chain wizard is displayed.

3 Enter the name of the protection subnet.

The default name is usually used, for example: NP_Chain_1.

4 Select the capacity level of the protection subnet.

    For example: STM-16.

Step Action 5 Select "Assigned by VC4" and "Resource Sharing" as required.

6 Select the nodes contained in the protection subnet to be created.

Double-click the NE in the Protection View and add it into the node list on the lower-left. Meanwhile, is displayed on the NE icon.

Double-click the selected NE again to cancel it.

7 Click . The link selection of the creation wizard is displayed.

    6.9 Deleting Protection Subnet

    Purpose

Use this procedure to delete created protection subnets.

Note: If you want to delete a protection subnet which has been configured service, you need to delete the service first.

    Prerequisites

NM user with the authority of "system maintainer" or above.

Make sure the protection subnet to delete has no any service.

    Procedure

Method 1: Step Action 1 Select [View/Protection View] and select [Protection

Subnet/Protection Subnet Management] in the protection view.

Step Action 2 Select protection subnets to delete, right-click it and select [Delete

from the NM] or [Deleted from the NE].

Note: You can delete a protection subnet in one of the three manners below:

    1) [Delete from the NM]: Delete relation between the protection subnet and logical systems at the NE side, to allow deleting fibers, re-uploading, and so on. This command is not delivered to the NE and is not service-affecting. The deleted protection subnet can be located by the searching feature. And the T2000 will locate it according to the NE layer protection information.

    2) [Delete from the NE]: Delete the protection subnet, logical systems at the NE side and all traffic in the protection subnet. The deleted protection subnet cannot be restored without being created again.

    3) [Delete All from the NM]: Delete data other than fiber in the network layer. Search the deleted protection subnet can be located by the searching feature. It is not recommended because this option would delete a large number of data. Choose this option with care.

3 Click to delete the protection subnet.
