Picture: Jim Coughlan e1.5m funding boost for library Full plans on display at Terence MacSwiney Community College FINE GAEL councillor Joe O’Callaghan has welcomed the grant of 1.5 million by the Department of the Envir- onment, Community and Local Government for the development of a new library in Knocknaheeny. “The new library will be built on the grounds of Terence MacSwiney Community College and work should start this summer,” he said. “This will be a wonderful build- ing with the library having two sep- arate functions, the library itself as a series of connected but identifi- able spaces centred around the main desk, and a multi-purpose community space which can be ac- cessed independently from the lib- rary outside normal hours. “All library functions will be on the ground floor area as a single story building with community space on the second floor. “The building will be visibly striking and in a most central posi- tion and full plans are being exhib- ited in the college,” he added. Cllr Joe O’Callaghan revealed the new library would be built on the grounds of Terence MacSwiney Community College.
