From 1989: GW expands to the neighbouring Central and Eastern European countries: Branches are established in Hungary (Budapest), the Czech Republic (Prague and Brno), Slovakia (Bratislava), Slovenia ( Maribor and Ljubljana). 2000: A joint venture is established between Gebrüder Weiss GmbH and the company Röhlig & Co. The branch network in Eastern Europe (Croatia, the Czech Republic) and China (Nanjing, Beijing, Ningbo) is enlarged and extended. 2001: More branches in Bulgaria, Rumania, China (Urumqi, Dalian, Tianjin) 2002: The holding company of Gebrüder Weiss is changed to an AG (joint stock company): Gebrüder Weiss Holding AG 2003: The presence of Weiss-Röhlig abroad is extended with five new locations in the USA and subsequently also in Canada 2004: Opening of the Weiss-Röhlig branch in the UAE (Dubai) und further branches in China (Zhanjiang, Xiamen) 2005: A new executive board takes over the helm of GW 2006: GW Vienna moves to the new terminal in Maria Lanzendorf. 2007: Opening of new Weiss-Röhlig locations in Taiwan (Taipeh) and Canada (Montreal) 2008: Foundation of the new country organisation in Bosnia-Herzegovina Opening of the logistics terminal in Bergheim near Salzburg Opening of a new branch in Hungary (Hajduböszörmeny) Opening of new Weiss-Röhlig locations in Japan (Tokio) and China (Chongqing) Austrian State Prize for GW’s Orange Combi Cargo (OCC) 2009: GW takes over logistics business of Hellmann Worldwide in the Czech Republic. Opening up in Macedonia Majority holding (75.5%) in Eurocargo in Serbia Opening of a new Weiss-Röhlig branch in the USA (Denver) Weiss-Röhlig opens up a new office in Thailand and takes over 50% shares of Tricon Shipping: renaming as Weiss-Röhlig India 2010: GW acquires a minority interest in Diehl, a freight forwarding company in Baden-Württemberg and increases its majority interest in the Serbian freight forwarder Eurocargo. With the openings of the logistics terminal in Senec (Slovakia) and the new cross-docking terminal in Sibiu (Romania), two important construction projects are completed. By taking these steps, GW continues the Group’s strategy of further developing and improving existing networks and structures. The same goes for the Air & Sea departments: a new operative location in Atlanta as well as two new locations in China expand the global network. The joint venture Weiss-Röhlig celebrates its 10 year anniversary. The renowned rating agency Dun & Bradstreet assigns GW a top credit rating, confirming the company’s financial stability and extremely high creditworthiness. Gebrüder Weiss is the first logistics company in Austria to draw up a sustainability report in conformance with the internationally recognised GRI standard. For its extraordinary achievements in apprentice training, GW receives a State Distinction Award. Heidi and Paul Senger-Weiss present the long and rich company history in the WeissBuch³. 2011: In March, GW pro.line is launched. The new product line enables reliable and transparent transport handling of general � cargo and groupage freight, according to precisely defined quality standards – Europe-wide. In June, the Basic product is � enhanced with additional Premium services that guarantee a time-definite delivery. The successful “Orange Tiger” campaign � in India ends in March, resulting in a 51% increase in air and sea cargo volumes between India and the “WeissLand”. � In South America, the Air & Sea network is extended to include Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay. As in the previous � years, numerous sustainability projects are implemented, such as the first climate-neutral warehouse in Austria, the first gas-� powered truck with a dual fuel engine and the purchase of a wind farm in northern Germany. In the 2011 fiscal year, the � company generates a turnover of more than 1 billion euros for the first time in its history.�2012: GW sets new milestones in the implementation of its international growth strategy: the establishment of a joint venture with � Tegeta Motors Ltd. In Tbilisi, Georgia, gives Gebrüder Weiss solid footing in the Caucasus region, along the so-called Silk Road. � With the purchase of the forwarding companies Diehl and Sprenger, based in Baden-Württemberg, GW continues to expand its � presence in Southern Germany. Business operations are started in Montenegro, which closes a gap in the Balkan region. And in � Jeneč, an important new branch in the Czech Republic is put into operation. Also in Asia, GW significantly strengthens its position � by taking over the Japanese logistics service provider JHB Express.�2013: With a new logistics centre in Tbilisi and the takeover of transporting company Far Freight, Gebrüder Weiss extends its outreach � further towards Central Asia. Moreover, the global expansion trend continues with the opening of two new logistics halls in Slovakia � and additional locations in Hungary and the Czech Republic; besides, two new branch offices of Weiss-Röhlig are established in Vietnam. � Approximately 6,000 employees contribute to the success of Gebrüder Weiss.
