The Essence of the Trinity – Godhead

God is a triune being: God the Father; God the Son (Lord Jesus Christ); and God the Holy Spirit. They are the oneness or unity of the Godhead. “The unity of the Trinity is defined as the three persons having one divine essence. Essence is the essential being or nature of a person, what that person is. Each member of the Godhead is a joint partaker of the same essence, the same majesty, and the same eternal glory. They are coeternal, coequal, and co-infinite. Each person of the Godhead has identical and identifiable attributes which are those intrinsic qualities which compose the essence of each member of the Godhead – Trinity.

Hebrews 1:3a, says, “The Son [Lord Jesus Christ] is the radiance of God’s glory and the exact representation of His being…” The footnote to this scripture says, “As the brilliance of the sun is inseparable from the sun itself, so the Son’s radiance is inseparable from His deity, for He Himself is God, the second person of the Trinity (John 1:14, 18).” (NIV Study Bile, p. 1859, © 1985)

In addressing the Supremacy of Christ, the letter to the Colossians 1:16ff says, “He is the image of the invisible God (the Father of the Trinity), the first born over all creation. To get a real understanding of Satan (accuser, adversary, tempter, Lucifer, devil, father of lies) and his method of operation, you must read the Book of Job chapters one and two. Satan is “incapable of contending with God hand to hand, power pitted against power. He is bent on frustrating God’s enterprise embodied in the creation and centered on the God-humanity relationship.” As tempter he seeks to alienate humanity from God (Geneses 3; Matthew 4:1). Satan also “seeks to alienate God from humanity (Zechariah 3:1; Revelation 12:9-10) His all-consuming purpose is to drive an irremovable wedge between God and humanity, to effect an alienation that cannot be reconciled.” (The NIV Study Bible, Zondervan, p. 732, © 1985)

Paul says in Ephesians 6:12, “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” (NIV)

Heroin EpidemicTo address the “Heroin epidemic” there are only two (2) songs that will get the public’s interest:

I can identify with Jeremiah’s complaint in chapter 20:7-18. In verse 9 when he says, “But if I say, ‘I will not mention Him (The Lord Christ) or speak any more in His name,’ His word is in my heart like a fire, a fire shut up in my bones. I am weary of holding it in; indeed, I cannot.” Because of insidious cunning and concentrated assaults by “White American” supremacist on the “least of these, there is a spiritual indictment on the American Government.

Like Jeremiah the Prophet/Priest, the Lord has “hurled” me into this hostile world to announce “divine judgment” for its sins. His call is in me saying, “Before I (Lord Jesus Christ, God Almighty) formed you (Roger W. Baker) in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the Nations…” “Now, I have put My words in your mouth. See, today I appoint you over Nations and Kingdoms to up-root and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant.” (Jeremiah 1:4-10; NIV).

The Spirit of the Lord also came to me and said:Roger W. Baker, I am sending you to the American Government,

My Client Nation, to a rebellious Nation that has rebelled against Me. The people to whom I am sending you are obstinate and Stubborn. Say to them, ‘This is what the SOVEREIGN LORD says.”

And whether they listen or fail to listen – for they are a rebellious house. And you [Roger W. Baker], do not be afraid of them or

their words, you must speak My words to them. Listen to whatI say to you! Open your mouth and eat what I give you!

The Message to AmericaAmerica is the Lord Jesus Christ’s client nation. A Client Nation is defined as:

A National entity in which a concentration of spiritually mature believers Sustains a nation through which Jesus Christ controls history and God

Furthers His plan for humankind. God specifically protects this representative Nation so that believers can fulfill the divine mandates of evangelism,

custodianship and communication of Bible doctrine, providing a haven for The Jews from anti-Semitic persecution, and sending biblically orthodox

Missionaries abroad.” (The Angelic Conflict by R.B.Theme, Jr. p. 160)

Started from the Bottom, Now we are here!It started in 1619Unless you know where you came from, you will never know where you are going. Let’s refresh our memory; in 1619, three things happened in the Virginia colony that had a major impact on the British in America:

1. The arrival of 90 women, who became the brides of settlers who paid for their passage at a cost of 120 pounds of tobacco each.

2. The meeting of the legislative body of colonist on the continent, known as the House of Burgesses; it met for about a week, passed laws against gambling and idleness, and decreed all colonists must attend two “church” services each Sunday…

3. The arrival of a Dutch ship with 20 human beings from Africa to work in the tobacco fields. The British could not adjust to the “heat and hash labor.”

The African slaves in the tobacco fields proved successful and more slaves were imported. Both the Southern colony (the field negro-slave) and Northern colony (domestic African American servants) practiced slavery.

1. In 1662, Virginia passed a law that automatically made slaves of slaves children.2. In 1664, Maryland’s assembly declared that all black people in the colony were slaves

for life, whether they converted to Christianity or not.3. In 1684, New York’s legislators recognized slavery as a legitimate practice.

By 1708, there were over 12,000 slaves in America. When the slave girl bleed, she had to breed at age 10, 11, 12 with whomever the slave master appointed; even himself was a candidate for breeding. (Wiegand, Steve: U.S. History For Dummies, p.46-47, 2009.)

Thaddeus Stevens in September 1833 was elected to Pennsylvania House of Representative. He was a “crusader for universal education.” Under Governor George Wolf, in April 1834, Stevens “guided through legislature an Act to allow districts across the state to vote on whether to have public schools and the taxes to pay for them.” He stated “that it would actually save money; and that the opponents were seeking to separate the poor into a lower

caste than themselves, and accused the rich of greed and failure to empathize with the poor.” He argued, “Build not your monuments on brass or marble, but make them of ever-living mind!” Education for all was victoriously passed. (Wikipedia, p. 5-6)

In 1858, Thaddeus Stevens was elected to Congress as the Republican nominee. The Democratic Party made a banner which read: “Niggerism Triumphant” (p. 8). Congressman Stevens pushed Congress to pass a Constitutional Amendment known as the “Thirteenth Amendment” abolishing slavery (p. 10).

Mississippi NiggersIn 1866, A Yazoo Delta Mississippi, a planter wrote, “I think God intended the niggers to be slaves. Now since man has deranged God’s plan, I think the best we can do is keep ‘em as near to a state of bondage as possible…My theory is, feed ‘em well, clothe ‘em well, and then, if they don’t work…whip ‘en well.” (Worse Than Slavery: Parchman Farm and The Ordeal of Jim Crow Justice by David M. Oshinsky, P. 11, 1997)

In 1883, a Southern employer explaining the benefits of convict leasing to reformer George Washington Cable saying, “Before the war we owned the negroes. If a man had a good nigger, he could afford to take care of him; if he was sick get a doctor. He might even put gold plugs in his teeth. But these convicts: we don’t own ‘em. One dies, get another.” (Oshinsky, p.55)

David M. Oshinsky, a professor of history at Rutgers University, project on the Parchman Penitentiary earned him a senior fellowship from the National Endowment for the Humanities and a visiting appointment as Distinguished Professor of History at the University of Texas, Austin. In his book, he document “slavery” up to 1990 in the state of Mississippi. Sadly, the United State of America’s government (Congress, the Presidents, the Department of Justice, and the Supreme Court) sat and watched rejoice-fully.

The War on DrugsMichelle Alexander, a law professor at Ohio State University, in her book: The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness says:

The Caste System was again triggered by the U.S President Ronald Regan, (Conservative-devil). Jesus said, “I come that you may have life, and life more abundantly.” Again Jesus said, “The Devil come to steal and to kill.”

Evil disguised as good embodies the devil’s policy, purpose, and modus operandi (John 8:44). Satan’s offensive strategy in history is to attack

God and His grace policy through temptable, corruptible human volition. The carrots he dangles entice human volition to turn away from God’s

Grace and onto man’s own devices. When negative volition presents an Opportunity, Satan seizes the initiative. He preys on the trends of the sin Nature and targets man’s thinking with false doctrine and evil ideas, the “doctrines of demons” (1Timothy 4:1). Satan is the master imitator. He

Will stop at nothing and will use every trick to make himself and his army Of deceitful spirits appear good rather than evil. (The Angelic Conflict, p. 87)

Thirty-four percent (34%) of the Democrats voted for President Ronald Regan (conservative), solely for the purpose of “stopping those niggers, they are moving too fast.” The War on Drugs which was initiated in 1969 was his means to destroy the minds of Negroes in 1982. The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) admitted in 1999 that they were responsible for “crack cocaine” entering the Black neighborhoods in America.

This act has cost and is costing tax-payers trillions of dollars annually. Before crack-cocaine population including, White Americans, were 350,000 with a majority of White prisons. Today, 3,000,000 prisoners, with a majority (75%) of Negroes. President Regan’s “diseased” act of conspiracy, treachery, and ineptness is more detailed in my book in Section lll of “Who Authorized You To Quit:” Church Growth in At-Risk Communities.

“Arrogance Skills”R.B. Thieme, in his book “The Angelic Conflict,” p. 159, defined “arrogance skills” as self-justification, self-deception, and self-absorption:

Self-justification means, “I am right and everyone else is wrong.” Self-deception means, a believer fails to acknowledge his/her flaws, failures, or sins,

often projecting them onto others in his periphery. Self-absorption is total preoccupation with self, resulting in hypersensitivity, extreme

self-consciousness, and a lack of consideration for others.“As the believer cycles through the arrogance skills, divine viewpoint is obscured and mental sins –including bitterness, hatred, and jealousy—increase (James 3:14-16).”

So, White America, is your “spiritual indictment” justified? That is, heroin for your “white” children/youth. President Ronald Regan and white-supremacy have wreak-havoc on our black children and the community, “Ghetto.” As a result, Black communities are “Red-lined.” These

kids are affected by their mother; who is affected by their mother; who is affected by their mother. Alienation, isolation, depression, oppression, hopelessness, leads to apathy, defined:

2. Isolate (transitive verb, 1799 century). To set apart from others. 3. Depress (transitive verb, 14 century). To press down (a typewriter key); to cause to sink

to a lower position4. Oppress (transitive verb, 14th century) Suppress. To crush or burden by abuse of power

or authority. To burden spiritually or mentally: weigh heavily upon –Wrong5. Hopeless (adjective, 1534 century). Having no expectation of good or success:

Despairing. Not susceptible to remedy or cure. Incapable of redemption or improvement. Giving no ground for hope: Desperate, incapable of solution, management, or accomplishment: impossible –Despondent

6. Apathy (noun 1594 century). Lack of feeling or emotion: Impassiveness Lack of interest or concern: Indifference

Let the truth be told! There is no difference between a Racist, a Bigot, White Supremacist, White Nationalist, Ku Klux Klan person, Conservative, or Imperialist. They all exist to control the “Nigger,” whether by hanging or police killing. Their ultimate goal is get the nigger in their Paternalistic Cast System.

Post Traumatic Slave SyndromeBy Dr. Joy DeGruy

“Multigenerational Trauma” is called “Post Traumatic Slave Syndrome (P.T.S.S.)” according to Dr. Joy DeGruy:

P.T.S.S. is a theory that explains the etiology (cause/origin) ofmany of the adaptive Survival behaviors in African Africans

communities throughout the United States and the Diaspora (scattered people). It is a condition that exist as a consequence of multigenerational Oppression of Africans and their descendants resulting from centuries of Chattel

inherently/genetically inferior to whites. This was then followed by Institutional racism which continues to perpetuate injury.

Counselors, Social Workers, and Psychologist are complete failures;5) The Medical Community as a whole, who fail to be proactive 6) The Social Service System, Housing Authority, and Local Police are complete failures;

they know the conditions of the “at-risk” and chose to set them up to shoot them-down because the White-Supremacist Grand-Jury say there is no crime in killing a “nigger” which is written in there corrupt “policies and politics

7) You cannot hold parents responsible because of their “education deficit” caused by the disease of conspiracy, treachery, and ineptness. Just because you are of age, do not mean that you know.

8) All Church Denominations are failures; their focus is on elitism, snobbery and classism. The Church (the body of Christ) is not a “County Club.” The Church is the “spiritual intensive-care unit” for whosoever will let him/her come. Therefore, the church’s focus has become the “god of money” rather than “souls.” It is filled with false dignity, false pride, and prejudice.

The ChurchThe function of the Church is to bring unity in the community. The Body of Christ is the:

Hands to do Christ work. The feet to run His errands. A mouth to speak for Him.

Christ is God’s instrument of reconciliation (bridge); and the Church is Christ’s instrument of reconciliation (bridge). The results are “true conversion” marked by the:

Turning from idols. Serving God by “faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ alone.” Waiting and preparing others for the return of Christ – His second and final coming.

Voices against Clayton AcademyFollowing are some statements made by compassionate/empathic/nurturing/mentoring voices about the Pittsburgh Public Schools and Clayton Academy:

1. Voice # 1: Last year (2007) the Pittsburgh Public School Board gave a multi-year, multi-million dollar, no-bid contract to an out of state company (Community Education Partners) that operate schools for disorderly and disruptive students in several states… I have heard that City police, as well as School police are called to the school regularly to address fighting between the students, even though the school provides its own security personnel.

2. Voice # 2: Clayton is a failure. It is a warehouse for children with needs the Pittsburgh Public Schools choose to turn their back to. Children attending Clayton are not being taught. I can believe that the police are there often. I think the principle quit in disgust. This man was paying for pizza every day to feed the children lunch. They are not permitted to bring their own lunches.

3. Voice # 3: The writer of Feb. is correct. The place is shameful. These are throwaway kids. It is one step away from being another “George Junior” which for everyone information is a lock-up for teens near Philadelphia. As a teacher in the district I am concerned at the number of students we push out of the door.

4. More voices: Read attached.

Specialized Education Services, Inc. (SESI) focus on the following: 1) Alternative Education; 2) Autism; 3) Learning Disabilities; and 4) Emotion Disabilities. Their logo read, Clayton Academy, Home of the Wolves. These poor needy children are labeled as “Wolves.” Who wants a wolf?

They issued a 35-page report up to 2013-2014 for grades 6 through 12 (see attached). The 12th graders are reading at 6.2 grade-level; and Math levels are at 9.6 grade-level. “All children are born geniuses; 9,999 out of every 10,000 are swiftly degeniusized by grow-ups.” (The 8th Habit, by Stephen Covey, p. 48) Learning without doing is like not learning at-all. The Negro is a tactile and kinesthetic people; they learn by moving. Remember? It was the “nigger” that built America’s infrastructural.

The Rich-Man and the Poor-Man(The Gospel of Luke 16:19-31)

The Lord Jesus Christ (Omniscience & Veracity) tells the story of Lazarus the poor-man and the rich-man. The concerned community was concerned about Lazarus the beggar’s health. Lazarus was hungry and sick and covered with sores. The concerned community carried Lazarus to the rich man’s gate. Lazarus begged the rich man for the crumbs from his table. Instead of giving-up the crumbs, the rich man sent his “pit-bull” dogs to attack the poor-man. When the pit-bull dogs arrived they had such compassion and sympathy and sorrier for the poor-man, they gathered around the poor-man and licked his sores.

Lazarus the beggar died; God sent His Holy Angels to get Lazarus “soul” and they carried his soul to “paradise,” Abraham’s side. Paradise is the place of blessedness where the righteous dead go to await future vindication. Its bliss is the quality of blessedness reserved for people like Abraham (NIV Study Bible, p. 1872, © 1985).

Luke 16:22b-24 says, “The rich-man also died and was buried. In ‘hell,’ where he (soul) was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side. So he called to him, “Father Abraham, have pity on me and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this fire.”

Hell/HadesHell, also Hades is the place to which the wicked dead go to await the final judgment. That torment begins in Hades is evident from the plight of the rich-man. Hades includes the torment that characterizes hell fire, Revelation 20:10-agony; Revelation 14:11; Matthews 8:12-separation:

Matthews 8:12. Jesus said, “But the subjects of the kingdom (Satan) will be thrown outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.”

Revelation 14:11. “And the smoke of their torment rises forever and ever. There is no rest day or night for those who worship the beast and his image, or for anyone who receives the mark of his name.”

Revelation 20:10. “And the devil that deceived them was thrown into the Lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false Prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.”

LoveIn 1 Corinthians 13, Paul speaks of love. He says in verse 13, “That love is greater than faith and hope.” In verse 4, he says, “Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy; it does not boast; it is not proud; it is not rude; it is not self-seeking; it is not easily angered; it keep no record of wrong. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trust; always hope; always perseveres. Love never fails.”

Jesus said in John 3:16, “For God so loved the world (people) that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” In verse 18, He says, “Whoever believes in Him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he/she has not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.”

Empathy“Empathy means sharing in another person’s emotional experience in a particular situation. To be empathic we must have the ability to step outside ourselves and into another’s private world.” “When someone deeply understands and accepts us as we are, we become accepting of others’ shortcomings.” Such deep understanding is Christian love. God “reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” (2Corinathians 4:18, NIV) “We love because He first loved us.” (1 John 4:19, NIV) As Christians in Christ we are free from “bondage and self-deceptions.” Therefore, we are to love the least of these – “at-risk” pariah.(Baker Encyclopedia of Psychology & Counseling, edited by Benner & Hill, p. 397-398, ©1999)

Less than 50 years ago White-Supremacist hindered Negroes from education. Intergradation allowed White-Supremacist to take over Negro education requirements, raiding our classrooms and imposing their European standards/values and labeling nigger-children as “pariah.” Treated with an attitude of hate by the Ku Klux Klan in the classrooms and schools, our children and youth “soul” is troubled.

Essence of SoulThe essence of human-being is “soul” which is imputed to everyone at birth: body, soul and spirit (The Integrity of God, R.B. Thieme, Jr. P. 70). The essence of soul is: 1) Self-Consciousness; 2) Mentality; 3) Conscience (Norms and Standards); and 4) Volition (The Plan of God, by R.B. Thieme, Jr. p. 8-9):

1. Self-Consciousness. “When you were born, you were not aware of your existence. Later when someone called you by your name, you responded. When you saw yourself in a mirror, you associated your name with your face. Eventually, you became aware of yourself as an individual.

2. Mentality. Obviously, the mentality of a newborn baby is not developed; otherwise he/she could speak fluently at the moment of birth. Vocabulary must be learned, words must be put together. All conscious thinking is accomplished by vocabulary, so your vocabulary greatly determines your ability to reason.

3. Volition. Volition is the decision-maker of the soul. A baby’s volition is completely controlled by his/her environment. Since he/she has no vocabulary, a baby cannot say, “I’m hungry.” All he/she can do is open his/her mouth and cry. When someone forgets to feed him/her or change his/her diaper, a baby’s volition becomes a vocal expression. But this is not a fully developed volition.

4. Conscience (Norms and Standards). A baby is born without teeth, but they grow in. Likewise, a baby is born with a conscience, but it does not contain one norm or standard. These gradually develop through social, academic, and spiritual training. Just as the baby eventually acquires teeth, eventually he/she develop norms and standards.

Exodus PeopleThe Traditional Negro is an Exodus people. “The Book of Exodus teaches that the Lord is the one true God and the ruler of all creation. And when the Lord decides to do something no one can stop Him.” (Holy Bible, CEV, p. 56, © 1995)

The Lord Jesus Christ was conceived in the “Virgin” Mary (a 13 year-old nigger-girl); she was His earthly mother, by God the Holy Spirit. He was born fully-human and fully-divine (hypostatic-union); He is impeccable-undiminished deity. The Lord Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem in an animal shelter occupied by animals, and laid in the animal’s “feeding trough.” His parents with Him, escaped to Egypt because King Herod was sending an Army to kill Him. He grew-up in Nazareth, baptized in the Jordan River by John the Baptist, and eventually “crucified” on the “Cross” for the sin of all-humanity (past, present, and future generations); and God the Father resurrected Him on the third-day and gave Him all the power over the entire Universe.

By dying on the “Cross” He destroyed Satan’s wall that separated humanity from God the Father; and He Himself became humanity’s everlasting bridge through “faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ alone” (The Book of Matthew). The Lord Jesus Christ is Battle-Field Royalty!

Strategic & Tactical VictoryHe won for humanity the “Strategic Victory” over Satan by His death on the Cross. Through the Holy Spirit humanity can get the “Tactical Victory” by having “faith alone, in the Lord Jesus Christ alone;” and consistently occupying himself/herself in Biblical doctrine and walking in the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ (The Angelic Conflict, p. 64-72). “Christ who is God” (Romans 9:5b&) “appeared in a body, was vindicated by the Spirit, was seen by angels, was preached among the nations, was believed on in the world, and was taken up in glory.” (1 Timothy 3:16)

ChildrenIn the Gospel of Matthew 19:13-15, parents brought their children to Jesus that He might place His hands on them, and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them. Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not hinder them for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these. When He had placed His hands on them, He went on from there.”

In the Gospel of Mark 9:36-37, Jesus took a little child in His arms and said, “Whoever welcome one of these little children in My name welcome Me.” In Mark 10:15, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, anyone who will not receive the Kingdom of God like a little child, will never enter it.”

In the Book of Ephesians 6:1-3, Apostle Paul speaking to children and parents says, “Children, obey your parents in the Lord for this is right. Honor your father and mother, which this is the first Commandment with a promise that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.” In verse 4 Paul says, “Father, do not exasperate (irritate) your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.”

Paternalistic-Cast System

PaternalismPaternalism is defined as the attitude or action of a person, organization, etc. that protects people and gives them what they need but does not give them any responsibility or freedom of choice. Another way of defining paternalism is that of: a system, principle, or practice of managing or governing individuals (Social Service System), businesses, nations, etc. in the manner of a father dealing benevolently and often intrusively with his children (Internet definition).

The Cast SystemThe Cast System is a social ranking of people, the rich, the mid-class (upper and lower), the poor, the hungry, homeless, sex-offenders, felonies and more. It’s like every-day social status but much more complex. You are born into your caste and for the most part you and your offspring are stuck in that caste from generation to generation. Different forms of the caste system can be found in many cultures. The caste system has been in use for thousands of years. Usually, people marry into the same caste. The rich usually do not marry the poor, and vice versa. Often you don’t even communicate to other castes. It’s like being in different worlds. The higher caste holds all the political power. The lower castes have little to no say in society. The lowest classes are practically slaves-“at-risk” (Internet definition). Even the “Churches” operate as a Cast-System.

The alienated, isolated, depressed, and oppressed are victims of abuse by: 1) Social Services; 2) Government Housing; 3) the Criminal Justice System; 4) Public Education; 5) Medical Coverage; etc. No one is going to lay-down and die. These individuals are the “last ones hired and the first ones fried.” Therefore, the issue is the development of life skills starting at pre-natal care. Everyone deserves to live in a desirable, sustainable, and equitable community. These individuals are forced to live in sub-standard environments, which are caused by the

White Supremacist good-o-boy network, who wreck-havoc on many “at-risk” lives. What is sad is that, no local Government leadership care; “one nigger die, get another.”

From 1995 through 1997, I witnessed Pittsburgh Theological Seminary teaching that, inviting the “lower caste” to worship in “upper caste” churches is call “risky-evangelism and it is not worthwhile messing with.” Once we accept Christ by faith alone, in Christ alone, we immediately become “Priest and Ambassadors of our High Priest, the Lord Jesus Christ.

Royal Priest“Christ is our Royal High Priest forever (Hebrew 5:6, 10). Ambassadors“We are also ambassadors.” As spiritual ambassadors, we represent the Lord Jesus Christ in the devil’s kingdom (2 Corinthians 5:18-20). Just as we are appointed priest at salvation, we are also appointed ambassadors the moment we believe in Christ.”

The socially-economically disadvantaged at-risk are rootless people; therefore, what do they know about developing a family-foundation? In Stephen R. Covey’s book, “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective Families © 1997, on page 337 addresses the four Needs, Roles, and Gifts of “Principle-Centered Family Leadership:”

Needs: 1) To Learn (Mental); 2) To Live (Physical/Economic); 3)To Love (Social-Emotional); and 4) To Leave a Legacy

They have weekly family times and regular one-on-one bonding times. They are driven by purpose, not by the agendas and forces surrounding them.

4. Think “Win-Win.” Family members think in terms of mutual benefit. They foster support and mutual respect. They think interdependently –“us,” not “me” – and develop win-win agreements. They don’t think selfishly (win-lose) or like a martyr (lose-win).

5. Seek First to Understand…Then to Be Understood. Family members seek first to listen with the intent to understand the thoughts and feelings of others, then seek to effectively communicate their own thoughts and feelings. Through understanding, they build deep relationships of trust and love. They give helpful feedback. They don’t withhold feedback, nor do they seek first to be understood.

6. Synergize. Family members thrive on individual and family strengths so that, by respecting and valuing one another’s differences, the whole becomes greater than the sum of the parts. They build a mutual problem-solving and opportunity-seizing culture.

They foster a nurturing family spirit of loving, learning, and contributing. They don’t go for compromise (1+1=1 ½) or merely cooperation (1+1=2) but creative cooperation (1+1=3…or more).

7. Sharpen the Saw. The family increases its effectiveness through regular personal and family renewal in four basic areas of life: 1) physical; 2) social/emotional; 3) spiritual; and 4) mental. They establish traditions that nurture the spirit of family renewal.
