Air pollution
The famous deadly pollution is called: The Smog It killed over 400,ooo people who were in England
It happened in England of the year of 1952
It happened because people used more coal to
heat up their homes and the didn’t realize it would create such a deadly smog
Why did it happened?
The smog was created by a period of cold
weather, combined with anticyclone and windless conditions, collected airborne pollutants mostly from the use of coal to form a thick layer of smog over the city.
It lasted from December Friday 5th 1952 to March 1953
How did it happened?
How the great smog got it’s name
The great smog got it’s name by combining the two things that stared the smog: smoke and fog.
smoke + fog=smog
Strange Mist
This photo might look like just mist , but, this “mist” can be extremely dangerous. This is what it looked like in England 1952 when the smog
occurred.
Health problems
One of the health problems the smog caused was respiratory tract infections from hypoxia and as a result mechanical obstruction of the air passages by pus arising from lung
infections caused by the smog. The lung infections were mainly bronchopneumonia and accurate purulent bronchitis
superimposed upon chronic bronchitis.
