25th Jubilee of Priestly Ordination Cathedral parishioners are invited to celebrate the 25th Jubilee of Priestly Ordination of
Bishop Anthony Randazzo and Fr Morgan Batt
A Jubilee Mass will be held in St Stephen’s Cathedral, Tuesday 29 November at 7.00pm followed by supper in the Francis Rush Centre.
Do you enjoy meeting people? Do you love your Cathedral? Do you revel in good art and juicy history?
Do we have an opportunity for you!
Talk with us about becoming a volunteer welcomer and/or guide at the Cathedral of St. Stephen. The commitment is three hours per month on roster; booked tours according to your availability Monday to Fridays and bi-monthly meetings. The rewards are beyond measure - a wonderful opportunity to delve into the rich histo-ry, art and significance of the Cathedral and Precinct and to share it with others. Everyone you meet, greet and guide will become an ambassador for this historic architectural gem which is the mother church of the archdiocese. Volunteering is a sure way to find friends that you didn’t even know you had. An information ses-sion will be held on Thursday 1 December 2016 at 10.30. A comprehensive five day training program will begin on Thursday 2 February 2017 and continue weekly un-til completion on 9 March with a graduation celebration to follow on 23 March. Contact the Cathedral office on 3324 3030 or e-mail [email protected] by 25 November if you’d like to share in this mission!
Please help us build a picture of what it looks like to be a part of the Church in Australia in 2016.
This weekend we are asking everyone who attends Masses at the Cathedral and St Patrick’s Church to complete the National Church Life Survey as requested by Archbishop Mark Coleridge. It does take around 15 minutes to complete, but it’s only once every few years!
Thousands of churches around Australia will participate during October/November. The 2016 NCLS offers the opportunity to hear the opinions, attitudes and beliefs of church attenders across more than 20 denominations, so that leaders at all levels can better plan for improving church health, develop effective leadership, make informed decisions and set direction for the future.
Additionally, at a local level, the results can be placed alongside previous NCLS results to look for trends and changes in our church community.
Please take the time to do this, or to complete the survey online using the web address below. Please ensure the Mass Centre Codes below are included on your survey to identify which parish community you are representing.

RECESSIONAL HYMN ANIMA CHRISTI
2. Strength and protection may thy Passion be; O blessèd Jesus, hear and answer me; Deep in thy wounds, Lord, hide and shelter me; So shall I never, never part from thee. 3. Guard and defend me from the foe malign; In death's dread moments make me only thine; Call me, and bid me come to thee on high, When I may praise thee with thy saints for aye.

PROCESSIONAL HYMN PICARDY
INTROIT PLAINSONG
Misereris omnium, Domine, et nihil odisti eorum quæ fecisti, dissimulans peccata hominum propter pænitentiam, et parcens illis: quia tu es Dominus Deus noster
Lord, you are merciful to all and hate nothing which you have made; you overlook men’s sins so that they can repent, and spare them, for you are the Lord our God.
The 10:00am Solemn Mass is sung by the Cathedral Choir. The 12:00pm Mass is sung by the Cathedral Schola.
2. King of kings, yet born of Mary, As of old on earth He stood, Lord of lords, in human vesture, In the body and the blood; He will give to all the faithful His own self for heavenly food.
3. Rank on rank the host of heaven Spreads its vanguard on the way, As the Light of light descendeth From the realms of endless day, Comes the powers of hell to vanquish As the darkness clears away.
4. At His feet the six winged seraph, Cherubim with sleepless eye, Veil their faces to the presence, As with ceaseless voice they cry: Alleluia, Alleluia Alleluia, Lord Most High!

2. O let it freely burn, Till earthly passions turn To dust and ashes in its heat consuming; And let thy glorious light Shine ever on my sight, And clothe me round, the while my path illuming. 3. Let holy charity Mine outward vesture be, And lowliness become mine inner clothing; True lowliness of heart, Which takes the humbler part, And o'er its own shortcomings weeps with loathing. 4. And so the yearning strong, With which the soul will long, Shall far outpass the power of human telling; For none can guess its grace, Till he become the place Wherein the Holy Spirit makes his dwelling.

O quam suavis est, Domine, spiritus tuus, qui ut dulcedinem tuam in filios demonstrares pane suavissimo de caelo praestito, esurientes reples bonis, fastidiosos divites dimittens inanes.
O how sweet is thy spirit, Lord, thou who, in order to demonstrate thy sweetness to thy children, send down from heaven the sweetest bread unsurpassed, filling the hungry with good things, sending away empty the disdainful rich! A. LOBO
Notas mihi fecisti vias vitæ: adimplebis me lætitia cum vultu tuo, Domine.
