Temasek Club 35th Annual General Meeting 2017

�e 35th Annual General Meeting(AGM) was held on 28 September 2017. It was attended by about 200 members. �e 2016 AGM minutes and �nancial report were passed with no submitted comments nor queries.�e AGM commenced with a video, capturing the club’s past year activities. Our new chairman, BG Chua Boon Keat, in his address to members, shared some new initiatives that the club is working on.Following the AGM, the attendees were rewarded with complimentary tickets to the Oktoberfest the same night.

Roots of the beerfestival originates from Munich,

but merry making with beer transcends all boundaries. Rounding o� the month of

September, Temasek Club held our very own Oktoberfest on the 28 Sep 2017.

With Jack and Rai and the Moshi Girls in the building, getting everyone hyped up was

instantaneous. As with all beer festivals, we made sure the obligatory beer-chugging

and walking-straight challenges were not missed.

Monthly Golf League 4By Emily On October 12, 11 golf enthusiasts drove to Johor Bahru to participate in our Monthly Golf League at Horizon Hills Golf & Country Resort. With perfect weather conditions, it was an enjoyable day �lled with excitement and laughter.

Upon completion of the game, the golfers proceeded to have a sumptuous dinner at a restaurant near the golf course where they continued to joke about the activities on the greens.

Nature Walk By Yoong Soon On 14 October 2017, 18 members and guests from all walks of life came together for a hike up to Bukit Timah Nature Reserve and Wallace Education Centre at Diary Farm Na-ture Park. Some participants had been there before, but they did not know there is another interesting path to reach the destination.

We took o� via the Kampong trail and pipeline and went from Catchment path to Bukit Timah Summit. From there, we cut through the Dairy Farm loop to Wallace trail. Along the way, there were tough terrain that participants had to overcome, especially the steep slope along the pathway.

On the return trip, we took the Green corridor and managed to complete the hike within three hours. Everyone enjoyed the Saturday morning hike and many have indicated their interest in the next one.

Before her training regime with a personal trainer in Temasek Club, Yan Yee used to train regularly in the gym. She ran on tread-mills from time to time but her weight remained stagnant. One of the reasons for not seeing results could be the inability to incor-porate the right amount of training intensity and frequency into a week. Like many others, Yan Yee was not sure how to exercise, or how o�en to exercise. Yan Yee’s goal was rather straight forward - she wants to maintain a healthy weight before starting work.

Sometime in April this year, Yan Yee came to us and engaged Ramzdan, one of the personal trainers in Temasek Club. He used various weighted, functional exercises and high intensity inter-val training, combined with the right training frequency to avoid overtraining Yan Yee; he also provided advice on a balanced diet and body recovery methods to help her reach her goal e�ciently.

With discipline and perseverance, Yan Yee lost close to 14kg in six months while training in Temasek Club, equivalent to a total ex-penditure of 98,000 calories. On average, her weight loss came to be about 2 kg per month, in line with most guidelines for healthy weight loss. Aside from looking better from the weight loss, Yan Yee also found that her stamina and energy levels improved vastly. �is could be attributed to her commitment to training regularly in the right way. �e biggest change Yan Yee experienced was in her lifestyle and she has de�nitely bene�ted from her training in Temasek Club. We hope she continues to scale greater �tness heights with us, and see bigger transformations soon. Like they always say, motivation gets you started, but habit keeps you going. Way to go Yan Yee!

On perhaps the only night where frightening �gures are a welcome sight, guests rose to the occasion by dressing up spookily at Laager for the Halloween Horror Night on 31 October.

Evidently, the thought of dressing up excites everyone. With prizes to be won for the best-dressed, everyone tried to outdo one another.

With all the intimidating �gures getting restless and roaming around the lounge bar, there were a few souls with strong hearts, composed and collected enough to partake in the quiz segment of the event and walk away as winners and unscathed.
