Fortuneately, the pages of DX NBJS haw been e l l - f i l l ed by c0ntI;nbutions from many of aur newer members, & tha t i s a good sign. Kost of the established DXers aquired t h e i r i n t e re s t in the hobby during their early gears, so if we a re going to keep our hobby a l ive , we need a good supply of active, young DXers. AS f o r me, I have done pract ical ly no DXing during these past months, & consemently have heard nothing worth mentioning. Nor have I recei xed any veries, which f o r me i s par f o r the smner course. I d id manage t o have the HQ-180 conditioned f o r tb oncomlng seasoh, & I am happy to report i t is now ready f o r action. I do note we had one DXer who was busy al l mmmer: Gordon Nelson, whose 620 studies on the fadeout times of rare foreign s ta t ions may well be the most valuable DX contribution i n several seasons f o r those of u s w b are primarily working the TAs or TPs. However, I didn't keep tne s m e hours AB Gordon did t h i s past surmr,er, po I did not hear the d is tan t signals he came d~ w i t & , but somehow, the confl ic t between s t a t l c & sleep usually prevented me from so doing. Sgeaking of TAs, up to tn i s point la August, there nas not been apywhere near the good s i g ~ a l s tha t I encomtered the same period last year, when the sun S p t cycle w a s near its minimm, although the signals are be t te r than those i n ear ly August during the period 1960-62. I havenft taken my vacation yet, but I p lan to do so S tar t ing Friday 8/20. 6 th brought good reception of t he Canadian Fariti es, with some U.S. s t a t i o n s coming in wel l , notably WRVA-1140, which i s most unusual here, s ince CBI-1140, i s usually domin&t. The southeast and t he New England a r ea were

well audible, but New York was poor, o n such nights. The peak night , July 6th, skipped r i g h t over New York and

t h e New Enelend area. WJJD was domlnmt and other s t a t i ons from non-East Coast reglons were noted. Reeular
