WHAT’S ON AT THE REGENT, CORN EXCHANGE AND IPSWICH MUSEUMS
Bet your bottom dollar, that tomorrow there’llbe shows … and plentyof them! And not just tomorrow - 2016 islining up to be an eclectic year ofmusicals at the Ipswich RegentTheatre. From an orphanage inNew York City, to the sweepingplains of The American West, there’sbound to be a show for everyone.
This year’s calendar of musicalsbegins in February when TheRegent comes alive with the newtouring production of “The Soundof Music”. Set in the hills of Austriain the late 1930s, this Rodgers &Hammerstein classic will pull onthe heart strings of audiences youngand old as we follow the story ofMaria, governess of the Von Trapphousehold. Your whole family willbe absorbed in the nostalgia of‘Do-Re-Mi’, ‘My Favourite Things’,and ‘Edelweiss’. The Regent is alivewith ‘The Sound of Music’ from23rd - 27th February 2015.
After leaving Austria we head acrossThe Atlantic to the American Westwith Ipswich Operatic & DramaticSociety’s production of Oklahoma! This musical was the first of manycollaborations between Rodgers &Hammerstein and will be broughtto the stage by a talented mix ofIpswich’s very own musical theatreperformers.
Ipswich Operatic & DramaticSociety will be singing away thetumbleweed from 13th - 16th April2016.
Then it’s a ‘Hard Knock Life’ in NewYork City as The Regent prepares foreveryone’s favourite red-headedoptimist, Annie. The Broadway andWest End success is coming to TheRegent stage in April as part of a UKtour, rife with big characters and astrong cast, including Birds of aFeather’s Lesley Joseph.
We think you’re gonna like it here atThe Regent as Annie hits the stagefrom 25th April - 30th April 2016.
