ANNOUNCEMENTS

As one means of encouraging carcinogenesis re-search projects presently impeded by limitations inavailable analytical techniques for N-nitroso com-pounds, the Carcinogenesis Program of the NationalCancer Institute is considering the loan of a small num-ber of nitrosamine-selective detectors (Thermal EnergyAnalyzers) to other laboratories. Those wishing to re-ceive such a detector, which can be interfaced with agas chromatograph as well as used in the direct in-jection mode, should communicate their reasons for re-questing such an instrument to Dr. Marcia Litwack(Manager, Information and Resources Segment, CG,DCCP, NCI, Landow Building, Room 3A06, Bethesda,Maryland 20014) before 15 December 1975. The initialcommunication should address at least the followingpoints:

I) Nature of the research program in which the de-tector would be used, and its relevance to cancer causeand prevention;

2) Ability of the recipient laboratory's staff to main-tain and operate a prototype analytical instrumentwhich is still under development;

3) Freedom of the recipient laboratory to uncon-ditionally release all information obtained using the de-tector to the NCI; and

4) Percentage of detector program time which couldbe made available for collaborative efforts involvingthe NCI and other laboratories.
