SaskPower to consolidate Regi-na offices, build new complex at GTHctv.ca - SaskPower is moving ahead with plans to consolidate its office locations in Regina and build a new complex near the city. The strategy, which received the necessary approvals last week, calls for 12 locations in the city to be combined into four by 2018.
The four locations include the Crown utility’s downtown head office, the electrical and gas in-spections office in central Regi-na and the grid control centre in the city’s east end. In addition, a new logistics warehouse complex will be built at the Global Transportation Hub west of Regina. “We’ve reached the end of many of our Regina properties’ lifespans; the status quo just isn’t

sufficient any longer,” SaskPow-er president and CEO Robert Watson said in a news release. “Our current facilities are in-efficient and costly to operate.”The new complex will include a three-storey, 221,000-square-foot building with space for nearly 1,100 employees. It will also feature 273,000 square feet of industrial build-ings with shops, warehouses, storage and maintenance areas. Construction on the new complex is expected to begin in October 2015, and is expected to
be completed sometime in 2018. As part of the process, Sask-Power will purchase about 145 acres of land from the Global Transportation Hub Authority at an estimated cost of $25 mil-lion.

20. BE ADVENTUROUS WITH CHOPSTICKSChoosing chopsticks requires a bit more attention in picking up food from the plate. The portions are smaller, and eating with them takes more time because you have to closely watch each bite so the food doesn’t fall off. They can act as a reminder to slow down, savor and chew consciously which may help you realize you’re fuller sooner than you thought you’d be and then wind up eating less!

This Day in History - Dec 10, 2009: Avatar makes its world premiere
On this day in 2009, “Avatar,” a 3-D science-fiction epic helmed by “Titanic” director James Cameron, makes its world debut in London and goes on to become the highest-grossing movie in history. Starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana and Sigourney Weaver, the box-office mega-hit was praised for its state-of-the-art technology and earned nine Academy Award nomina-tions, including best picture and best director.
Set in the year 2154, “Avatar” tells the story of disabled ex-Marine Jake Sully, who is recruited to help conquer and colonize Pandora, a faraway moon that is home to a mineral deposit coveted by people on Earth, whose energy resources are almost depleted. Pandora is inhabited by the Na’vi, a group of nature-loving, blue-skinned, half-alien/half-human creatures intent on protecting their own eco-system. (Cameron hired a linguist to create a unique language for the Na’vi.) Using an avatar to explore Pandora because the air there is toxic to humans, Jake falls in love with a Na’vi princess and goes native, eventually working to save the Na’vi from the human colonists.
Cameron wrote the script for “Avatar” in 1994; however, at that point the technology didn’t exist to produce the movie he wanted. In the meantime, he penned and directed “Titanic,” the 1997 blockbuster that garnered 11 Oscars and became the first film to gross more than $1 billion internation-ally. Prior to “Titanic,” Cameron helmed such hit films as “The Termina-tor” (1984), “Aliens” (1986) and “The Abyss” (1989), and became known for his imaginative use of special effects. In 2009, he told The New Yorker: “[‘Avatar’] integrates my life’s achievements…It’s the most complicated stuff anyone’s ever done.” Among the technologies used to make “Avatar” was performance capture, which turns an actor’s movements into a comput-er-generated image.
At the 82nd Academy Awards, held in March 2010, “Avatar” won Oscars for best visual effects, cinematography and art direction.

IF OPERATING SYSTEMS WERE BEER..
DOS Beer:Requires you to use your own can opener, and requires you to read the directions carefully before opening the can. Originally only came in an 8-oz. can, but now comes in a 16-oz. can. However, the can is divided into 8 com-partments of 2 oz. each, which have to be accessed sep-arately.Soon to be discontinued, although a lot of people are go-ing to keep drinking it after it’s no longer available.
Mac Beer:At first, came only a 16-oz. can, but now comes in a 32-oz. can. Considered by many to be a “light” beer. All the cans look identical. When you take one from the fridge, it
opens itself. The ingredients list is not on the can. If you call to ask about the ingredients, you are told that “you don’t need to know.” A notice on the side reminds you to drag your empties to the trashcan.
Windows 95 Beer:You can’t buy it yet, but a lot of people have taste-tested it and claim it’s wonderful. The can looks a lot like Mac Beer’s can, but tastes more like Windows 3.1 Beer. It comes in 32-oz. cans, but when you look inside, the cans only have 16 oz. of beer in them. Most people will proba-bly keep drinking Windows 3.1 Beer until their friends try Windows 95 Beer and say they like it. The ingredients list, when you look at the small print, has some of the same ingredients that come in DOS beer, even though the man-ufacturer claims that this is an entirely new brew.
