Why are we here?
Your child is falling into one of the following 3 categories:1. He/She is not meeting his/her target grade2. He/She is currently a C/D borderline or D grade
candidate 3. He/She has not made at least 3 levels of progress
in English since they entered the school

What are English teachers going to do?
• Every English lesson the pupils will be taught the different Reading or Writing skills for the exam. Homework will be set to practice the skills
• Every Wednesday from 3:15 – 4:15pm these skills will be revised and homework set again
• Final revision session will be Monday 1st June 3:15 – 4:15 pm, the day before the exam
School will provide for pupils:
• Revision Tips Flip Cards (Easy to use any time anywhere)
• Letter with guidance for parents• Reading Revision booklet• Writing Revision booklet• The Student Guide to Literacy (to be returned
to school after the exam)
What do we need parents to do?
• Parents to check homework is completed after lessons and the Wednesday Evening revision session
• Watch the news regularly at home and discuss what they see with their child; what are their views?
• Check they revise for English every weekend but especially during the half term holiday (23rd May – 1st June)
• Come into school on Monday 1st June and remain from 3:15 -4:15 pm
• Buy the appropriate revision guide (see letter for details or next slide)

General things parents can do:
• The pack given to parents tonight contains activities that can be completed with your son/daughter
• Make sure your child comes into school with the required equipment. On the day of the exam they will need 2 black pens and 2 highlighter pens
• Ensure they get plenty of rest and sleep
