What is the New
LinkedIn Follow
Company Button?
Yesterday, LinkedIn announced that it is revealing it’s new follow
company button. The Linkedin Follow Company button is similar to
the Facebook ‘Like’ button in that when a user follows a company,
they will then in turn receive automatic updates from the
company in their LinkedIn feed.
This is the second change LinkedIn has made in the past week, as last
week, they updated their algorithm to focus more on skills and
experience rather than recommendations. It is
definitely moving towards a strategy of “positioning itself as a marketing
platform.
” What was once used as a site for networking with colleagues and
posting resumes is now used as full fledged social community complete with a newsfeeds, photos, videos,
and advertising platform. And now a LinkedIn Follow Company Button as
well.
How does the LinkedIn Follow Company button work?
Click on the Follow Company button and, as long as you are logged onto
LinkedIn, you will automatically “follow” the company. If you are not logged on, a box will appear asking
for your LinkedIn credentials.
Just type those in and you will automatically begin to follow the company. Companies will engage
with you from their Company Page on LinkedIn and through status
updates. Status updates will appear on your LinkedIn homepage
– so check back frequently to see what’s going on.
Why would I use the LinkedIn Follow Company button?
Whether you are looking to stay up-to-date on company news, career
opportunities orindustry trends, following companies on LinkedIn is a
