What is Mercury?

• Mercury is a neurotoxin and is commonly known as quicksilver;• Lamps, batteries, electronics and other products/devices can contain

mercury;• Outbreaks of methyl mercury poisonings have made it clear that

human beings can be at risk from ingestion exposure to mercury;• The most common way to be exposed to mercury is by eating fish that

contains methyl mercury.
