rock almost covered by oceans.

It is the only planet with plants and animals.

A year on Earth is 365 days long.

Mars Mars is called the

red planet . It is a desert except

for ice caps at the north and south pole.

Strong wind blow up big storms of the red dust.

Jupiter Jupiter is the largest

planet in the Solar System.

Jupiter is a giant ball of gas with a small rocky center.

One day is about 10 Earth –hours long.

Saturn Saturn is a giant ball

of gas with a rocky center.

Saturn has many rings.

The rings are made of bits of ice and rock.

Uranus Uranus is so far

from the sun that it is very, very cold.

A thick haze covers the planet.

Uranus rotates on it side.

Neptune Neptune is a large

blue-green ball of gas with a center of rock and iron.

Neptune has high winds and many storms.

Sometimes these storms show up as dark spots. Neptune is 4,497,070 km from the sun.

Pluto Pluto is known as a

dwarf planet. Pluto is the farthest

from the Sun. Pluto is the coldest

planet.
