Purpose• A competitive grant program that funds

efforts by Indiana communities.• It places focus on communities becoming

even better places to work, visit or live.• It is a collaboration between OCRA & IOTD• It places substantial emphasis on

community collaboration.• It invests in community and regionally

unique projects.

Eligible Projects• Innovative projects• Crowd – building venues• Unique gathering spaces• A project that enhances existing assets

and creates distinct and special places for the community

• BE CREATIVE, BE UNIQUE!

Eligible Applicants• Ideas should come from a wide variety of

partners• Multiple partner organizations are

encouraged • Beyond the two required organizations,

partners can be as diverse as it takes to accomplish and sustain the project

partners• Convention and Visitors Bureaus• Local or regional economic

development agencies• Local Units of Government• Indiana Main Street organizations• Public or private schools

Application Details• Applications due early 2015• Must have a cash match of a minimum

1:1• Request amounts $25,000 to $50,000• Must have a minimum of two previously

mentioned partners• The more collaboration, the better the

Purpose• Foster innovative approaches to

downtown development• Develop, support and promote

community partnerships, projects, and programs to revitalize downtown

Goals• To improve and enhance quality of life• Grant priorities are directed by OCRA’s

strategic plan and the National Main Street Four Point Approach

• 5 competitive grant rounds• 50 total funded projects• DEG Award: $524,562.00• Local Investment: $916,784.93• Total Investment: $1,441,346.93

Eligible Applicants• The Main Street organization would be

the lead applicant.• The organization must be a current

participating Main Street Program that has been active in the Indiana Main Street Program for at least one year.

• Partnerships between the Main Street organization and other organizations and entities within the community is strongly encouraged.

Eligible Projects• Façade Improvement Programs• Wayfinding signage• Create of a Pocket Park• Streetscape including: benches, trash

receptacles, bike racks• Mural creation and restoration• Other more permanent initiatives as they

relate to the grant purpose

used as local match• Philanthropic foundations, especially

Community Development Block Grant

Planning Grant cont.• Downtown Planning is required for

communities pursuing construction dollars• A maximum grant request is $30,000.00-

$40,000.00 depending on community population size

• 10% minimum match is required• Communities must have an active Indiana

Main Street group or be forming a group to apply for planning

• Projects apply on a month-by-month basis

Main Street Revitalization Program

• Scope of work normally includes either streetscape projects or façade renovations

• A maximum grant request is $400,000.00

• 20% minimum match is required• MSRP funding is only available to

communities with an active Indiana Main Street organization

• Projects apply during a yearly competitive cycle

Program Requirements• Lead applicant must be a non-entitlement

City/Town/County• Main Street group must take an active role in the

project

• National Objective: Community must declare the area for study or construction as blighted/area in need of redevelopment

• Each City/Town is allowed 2 open grants with OCRA/CDBG funding

• Each County is allowed 3 open grants with OCRA/CDBG funding
