As SYSADMIN > User Management Responsibility
1. Navigate to the Users Form
> Search for the User Name who will Delegate responsibility to perform transactions on their behalf
ie: USER_A
2. Assign the Role "Manage Proxies" to this user "USER_A"
> Update by clicking on the pencil
> Search by Role and Responsibilities - Enter "Manage Proxies" without the Quotes > Go
> Add the Manage Proxy Role to USER_A > Save > Apply
3. Run the following SQL as apps/apps for USER_A
select menu_name from fnd_menus fndm, fnd_grants fndg where grantee_key = 'USER_A' and fndg.menu_id in (1015915,1017383) and fndg.menu_id = fndm.menu_id and program_name = 'PROXY' and start_date <= sysdate and (end_date is null OR end_date >= sysdate); -------------------
USER_A UMX|UMX_MANAGE_PROXIES UMX|UMX_MANAGE_PROXIES 17-NOV-11 DIRECT Testing Manage Proxies
* This shows that USER_A has been given the MANAGE PROXY Role Assignment
4. Logon to the Applications now as the User that has the "Manage Proxies" Role assigned
> USER_A > Go to Preferences > Manager Proxies
5. Select the Add People Button
> Search for the User Name for those you wish to perform actions on thier behalf
> USER_B > Go > Apply
6. The User (USER_B) will receive a "FYI:Proxy Access Has Been Granted" Workflow Notification
ie:
Time Zone (GMT -06:00/-05:00) Central Time To USER_B Sent 17-NOV-2011 16:31:42 ID 4682749
You have been granted the ability to act as a proxy for . In order to act as a proxy, click on the 'Switch User' global icon or link from the Navigator screen
Start Date 17-NOV-2011 16:31:24 End Date
7. Now check if the Grant to the FND_PROXY Menu has been added for USER_B by running the following SQL as apps/apps
select menu_name from fnd_menus fndm, fnd_grants fndg where grantee_key = 'USER_B' and fndg.menu_id in (1015915,1017383) and fndg.menu_id = fndm.menu_id and program_name = 'PROXY'
and start_date <= sysdate and (end_date is null OR end_date >= sysdate); -----------------------FND_PROXY_USER_ACCESS
8. Login with the user who you will be performing actions for
ie:
USER_B
9. Note: The new Option "SWITCH USER" and "RETURN TO SELF" will now be avaible for USER_B in the upper right-hand corner
As it suggests, Switch User is the function that allows USER_B to become USER_A without having to enter his Password credentials and allows him access to USER_A's Responsibilities.e.g. submit and review reports, approve documents, perform iProcurement transactions and so on.
