Genre Analysis Analysis

The genre analysis papers made all of us in this group think about what genre is. We all

thought about connecting the concept to our interests in our lives. We did this because we

thought it would be easier to understand and relate to the audience members. I don’t think

anyone wants to read 6 pages about how we relate the concept of genre to the writing we have

done in this class, so we decided to break it down in more conventional ways and tried to relate

to our different audiences.

One of us connected the concept of genre to computing devices. He though it would be

more relatable in and easier to explain to the audience through comparing the different devices to

the concept. A theme he had going was that he addressed what the audience was for each device

and expressed the thought that genre has to change between audiences.

One of us is trying to relate the topic to anime. He is trying to do this by telling us what

the different genres are in the anime discourse community. He describes the value genre and

subgenres in the different categories.

One of us is trying to describe

genre through reporting styles in emergency medicine. She tries to describe how the different

employees in the emergency room interact with each other. Since the different employees

interact with each other in different ways, those can be considered different genres.
