The history of the River Vistula and her valley spans over 2 million years.

The river is connected to the geological period called „the Quaternary” (climate change).

The last one million years, an ice sheet entered the area of Poland eight times, bringing along with it changes of reaches of the river. In warmer periods, when the ice sheet retreated, the Vistula deepened and widened its valley.

The river took its present form inside the last 14 thousand years, after complete recession of the Scandinavian ice sheet from the area.

In Płock

The collection of the museum is one of the most precious in Europe.

The museum is located in two buildings - at 2 Tumska Street and in Granary at 11b Kazimierza Wielkiego Street.

Now the museum owns about 80 thousand exhibits - glass, pottery, jewllery and furniture. Some of them are of unique style. There is also an abundant collection of paintings (Józef Chełmoński, Jacek Malczewski, Julian Fałat, Stanisław Wyspiański) and Polish sculptures from XIX and XX century

There you can see the flowers, they are often on the frame. Because flowers have very soft lines.

Woman are often the subject of the sculptures because women are very beautiful. And on the sculptures the woman has often the wings of a butterfly.

This sideboard has symmetry and you can also see the sculpture of a woman and flowers.

This is a typical bedroom from the 19th century.
