A Home Portrait Watercolor – The ProcessStep 1 – Discuss goals of image with homeowner, budget, schedule for creating the image, special occasion it may be for, special framing or format needs, and what season, Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer etc.

Step 2 – Visit home to take pictures of preferred view(s) or obtain from images from homeowner electronically. Confirm what to show and what not to show, i.e. power lines, propane tanks etc.

Step 3 – Format image(s) to preferred image size, prepare pencil sketch(es) showing view(s) and layout, obtain approval from client.

Step(s) 4 thru 8 – Develop key shades and shadows, work in major coloration areas, adjust shade and shadows, add fine details, warmth.
